Can MotoRIZR z3 be used as a MP3 music player?

Can I get a 2GB MicroSD card and load it with tons of MP3 music
and use Z3 as a MP3 player? Does anyone actually doing it? Or
is it to cumbersome to use it as a MP3 player? Thanks.

FWIW, I use my RAZR V3xx as an MP3 player (mostly for podcasts) with a
1 GB microSD card -- works quite well.

No offense, but that's nonsense. The V3xx supports MP3 bitrates up to
an average of 256 Kbps, which includes recommended "studio" / "archival"
/ "extreme" settings and is superb quality, higher than most of what's
available. While it can't handle 320 Kbps CBR, that's way overkill
("insane"), especially on a portable MP3 player. He didn't even have a
bit rate in any event. (Read entire threads _before_ jumping in.)

Yes, that's the problem with many devices that can play MP3s but that
were not optimized for it. It's okay for voice, but not great for music.
There are also variations in audio quality among the different iPod
versions, and it's not always the more expensive ones that have the best
audio quality.

The V3xx actually has superb audio, as you might know if you had any
actual experience with it.

There's actually very little quality difference in current generation
iPods, which isn't surprising given their common components.

I don't know if I'm doing it right. When I connect the z3 phone.
The MicroSD drive show up as a Removeable Disk on Windows
Explorer. It has a folder called "Mobile" in this drive. Inside
"Mobile", there are three folders called "audio", "picture", and
"video". I copy mp3 songs to the "audio" folder.

Then I disconnect the phone from the PC. From the phone's main
menu, I get into Multimedia. All the songs are listed together
with the ring tones. Then I play them one by one. This is
cumbersome. So I wonder if this is the right way to listen to
mp3 music on this phone. Please help. Thanks.

Can you put them in albums (folders created from the PC and/or on the
phone) or in playlists, as I can on the V3xx, which also has choices of
Artists, Genres, and Composers?

Once I start playing an album, playlist or other choice, the V3xx
will continue playing track after track automatically according to
Option -> Music Setup:
* Auto Repeat: On or Off
* Shuffle: On or Off

The "removable disc", as Windows calls it, is the removable memory card
in your phone. Previous Moto phones demanded that ring tones be in the
AUDIO folder of the phone's *internal* memory. The V3xx may be the first
one to allow ring tones to be called from the memory card.

This new flexibility requires more housekeeping chores from the user, in
that to avoid the situation you have discovered, as Mr. Navas has explained,
you need to create subfolders for your full MP3 songs to separate them from
your ring tones.
