Tried sending an email from my T610 to my PlusNet email account to
test it and PlusNet rejected it with this message:
"Your message was rejected by mx.core.plus.net for the following
reason:
RFC2822 says you should have a Message-ID.
Most messages without it are spam, so your mail has been rejected."
So my question is, can I add a message ID somehow, whatever that is?
Any help appreciated!
TIA

Which ISP/server did you use to send the email? I think it's their problem.
I just sent myself an email from my T610 using relay.clara.net as the
outgoing SMTP server. It has added a @server.uk.clara.net MID to the email
header.

Plusnet does not allow mail relay from a non plusnet IP so i think that
might be your problem. For outgoing mailserver therefore use your mobile
provider. For example... smtp.o2.co.uk is o2's. I guess the other networks
have similar. I am suprised claranet allows you to send email from an non
claranet IP without authentication.
Cheers
Richard.

They don't. Authentication is required.

Thats what i expected however a reply to this post suggests that you can use
claranet as SMTP server and i cant see an option to authenticate for
outgoing mail on my T610.
Cheers.

You don't need the option. Just use relay.clara.net as the outgoing server
with valid Clara account[1] details and you can send email from non-Clara IP
ranges.
[1] Their free trial account doesn't allow relaying - only their pay
accounts do.

They are added by the mail server normally. I can't see how you could
add one yourself. Try a better smtp server? The T610 supports SMTP
Authentication.

I also have a T610 and appreciate what you are saying. I send mail to
a mailing list regularly from my phone and when the mail gets back to
my PC I find that the following has been added to the headers:-
X-Clara-Relay: Message sent using Claranet Relay Service using auth
code: xxxxx
- where xxxxx is my user-name. So I assume that your POP details are
used.

I'm using an Orange T610 phone with an Orange email account going
through an Orange mail sever... I'm confused! The outgoing server is
set to smtp.orange.net which are the settings from Oranges web site
configuration whatsit (sends it as a text). I still don't understand
what I can change (if anything) to get it to work?
TIA
