Hi there!
Was wondering what the difference is between a T610 and a T630? Pro /
contra? They look similar, had a quick look at SonyEricsson.com and
there don't seem 2 b any big differences between the two models.
Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
I've had my T300 for over a year now and would also like to know if
there is anything the T300 can do that the T610/30 can't do (eg.
transfer pictures & sound to my pc via infrared); I know that newer
Nokia cellphones can't do this, that's also why I wouldn't go buying
one (a Nokia).
Thnx 4 any comments

The t610/630 will both accept ringers/pictures (different size) like the
t300.
The display on the t610 looks better under normal light while illuminated,
but is actually harder to see in bright light, or while the backlight is
off, than the t300. The t630 is supposed to be better in all situations,
but I haven't seen one.
The t610 (and I guess the t630) camera has a lower resolution, but it still
far exceeds the ability of the phone display.
The t610 does not have the "click" setting for keypad sounds. Damn, I
really liked that.

What I was trying to say is that you can't send photo's from a Nokia
to a PC with infrared port (tried this with Nokia models 7250i, 6610
and 5100 -none of which are mine, though).
Sending sounds/photos via MMS works perfectly with these Nokia's.
Naturally I might be wrong, maybe you know more?
Any other comments why I should/shouldn't by a T610 or a T630?

You can set the keypad sound to "Click" using Float's Mobile Agent via
Bluetooth:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/fma/
Tools>Edit Profile, Settings Tab, Key Sound, select "Click".
Easy! :-)
Works for T610, T630, Z600, maybe more.

3650/3660/6600/N-Gage can do this. You're right that Nokia didn't build it
into their phones, probably in an attempt to suck up to commercial ringtone
sellers, however you can just install a 3rd party file manager, like SeleQ or
another one. (There are several). That way you can send absolutely anything,
even .jar files to copy games.
As for differences between T610 and T630: The main and only significant
difference is the MUCH improved screen. T610 you can't see on a sunny day.
T630 is especially nice and bright.
And then of course it looks very, very nice.

* Small screen
* Horrible joystick operation
* Slighly slow-ish response time when typing fast
* Some basic smartphone functions don't work, like you can't cut, copy and
paste texts when typing e-mails or from e-mails to SMS's
* Cute icons, but when I'm writing an e-mail I prefer to actually have every
single pixel available for text, not cute icons.
* Phone doesn't multitask. No downloading e-mails while doing other things.
* Limited memory
* Camera sucks
Don't get me wrong, it's a great phone for people who want a (small) phone
with lots of funtionality, but you did ask for reasons NOT to buy so I
specifically answered the question.
Nokia 6600 is better in all of these things, but worse in other areas:
* Big overall size
* Less classy/refined looks both physical and of the software
* Bluetooth does not work as smooth as SE. It works for basic stuff like
sending or receiving a file, but operation is sometimes quirky.
* Camera also sucks, but slightly less so than T630. And it takes video.
Not that this stamp-sized video is much to look at but I would mention it
more as a sign that 6600 has a quite a bit more capable CPU which enables
it do do such things. (Including 3D gaming even, a la N-Gage)
It's up to what you prefer. I could also mention P900 of course but this is
considerably more expensive and even bulkier than N 6600. 6600 and T630 cost
roughly the same. (Here at least.
If you're just looking for a phone that's convenient to use, looks stylish and
is small in size then T630 is a great phone. Also if you already own a PDA
(Palm/Pocket PC/Sony CLie) then T630 is the way to go because Bluetooth
connectivity is so much more reliable.

Thanks. I am still bluetooth deficient, but I am already getting too lazy
to align IR ports, so it won't be long.

Note that he already has a t300, so all of these details are actually
improvements (or at least no worse).

Re: Difference between T610 and T630
a brief search anywhere would have told you that you can use software such
as MobiMB to copy pics ringtones and games to and from the series 40 phones
you have mentioned
