I'm trying to get my IPAQ PDA to use my Ericsson T616 to dialup to an
internet ISP, but am having trouble.

The PDA configures fine, but there is a long delay in the bluetooth
connexion to the Ericsson, and by the time the phone starts to dial out, the
PDA has already timed out. The phones are in close proximity.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Is there a way to extend the timout on the PDA side?

Note: I've got no indication of bluetooth problems with either device:
Both, independantly, connect to my desktop just fine.

    Thoughts?

Yes, in the connections/settings section (forgive me - i dont have my ipaq
to hand) there is indeed a delay for the time the PDA gives the modem to
    respond.

I have mine set at 45 seconds which is more than adequate.

Thank you - I eventually did find it, although it's buried quite deep.

I still can't get it to work, though. It fails long before the timeout
period... I see the PDA connect to the phone once, and the "Calling.."
screen appears once for 1 second, and then 3 seconds later, it appears for
another second. At that point, the PDA reports failure.

It's difficult to troubleshoot, since it's all so opaque.

    Any tips?

    I'm assuming GPRS here, but....

Your PDA needs to tell your Ericsson which CID (data account) to use
Set the dial string to be *99***<CID>#, where <CID> is the CID number.
    eg. *99***1#

I am trying to dial up to my ISP, and make a TCPIP connexion.

Some carriers (AT&T) won't let you do that, you have to use their service
