You can't - and do you realise running Li-Ion/Pol batteries down
completely is really bad for them? You're drastically reducing it's
life-span.

As this behavior is by design, it can't be changed!
As a side issue, I personally would only run down the battery to the point
where the phone displays "battery low", instead of to the point where it's
completely empty.
Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if I understand your question but it sounds like you are
allowing your phone to discharge to the point where the phone disconnects
the battery which is safe to do 'cos the electronics in the battery pack
detect this state before the cells can be damaged. You then recharge the
phone still switched off where the display remains on? If so, charge the
phone more often & charge it with the phone switched on.
Li Ion batteries don't need to be drained before recharging & on older
Ericsson phones such as the T28, I'm sure the instruction manual recommended
charging with the phone switched on - probably allowing the phone's charging
be done more effectively. As I've said, I maybe missing something.

Initially charge it overnight & do the same when it requires recharging a
few times.
Download then install a dark theme such as Knots from Esato, is easy on the
eye as well as very readable, unlike many themes that need editing 1st. The
more you use the phone, the more power will be saved by doing so - not much
but some.
Be aware that the screen scratches easily.
Also consider buying a BT dongle if you want to connect to a PC.
RTFM at least once
