From the se website it is not at all clear to me what the actual
functionality of the DSS-25 is.
None of the features mentioned are different from what you get from their
USB cable (which I already have one off) or from a bt connection.
It seems that it is a must if you want to update software via the se
website. Is this true or will the s/w upgrade also work with the usb cable?
Does the online s/w upgrades also include phone firmware upgrades, in my
case of a K700i?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Hi,
as I mentioned in another thread in this ng,
you could also upgrade your phone's firmware
at your SE Service Center,
which is usually a mobile phone dealer.
I recently upgraded my K700i from the next-to-unusable
initial firmware to the actual version at no cost
at a local SE CS.

Re: DSS-25 SyncStation
My experience with se service / sales outlets here in the Netherlands are
just VERY poor.
I recently ordered a HCH-38 (Car Holder) and waited for 1.5 month to receive
it.
A year ago when I ordered the carkit it took more than two months before I
received the last item needed to build it in (the mute cable).
Having any kind of service done to the phone implies giving it up for 2
weeks!
Well I guess this explains why I want to be able do upgrades myself.
My questions with repect to the technical working of the DSS-25 are stil
valid and unanswered.
Best regards
Jan

Re: DSS-25 SyncStation
The DSS-25 does exactly the same as an USB cable, transferring tones,
pictures, etc.
But you need the DSS-25 for firmware upgrade at home, it will NOT work with
an USB cable (even an original SE-cable)
The phone's software is considered firmware.

Ok thanks for your answer. I ordered the DSS-25 today and will receive it
next week.
