My current phone just pooped out and I was planning on using my friends T68i untill I can get a new phone shipped. However she can't seem to remember the lock code, its not default as we have tried that.
The wierd thing is when we put her old sim in, it loads up just fine with out asking for the phone lock code. But when we put my SIM in it asks for it (as well as my SIM PIN.)
What courses of action do I have to get the phone up and running? TIA for any help!

As long as the t68i is being discussed, I have a t68i locked to ATTWS
that is kind of useless on my Cingular plan. I keep it around hoping
I can dial 911 if need be, but it would be nice to have some backup
to my Motorola V180 which seems likely to fail comparatively often.
I have a Mac mini with bluetooth, but no data cable. I don't want to
spend a lot of money. Is there any help out there?
Thanks,

The phone is set in automatic phone lock mode. That means, that it prompts
for the phone lock code when a new SIM is inserted, but not otherwise. The
phone lock is a security measurement designed to prevent thefts of the
phone, or at least make it harder for the thief. There is no known
workaround, other than having a service center to unlock it. I don't
remember exactly how the T68i worked, but many phones will become
permanently locked and unusable if too many erroneous phone lock PIN codes
are entered.

Hello,
sorry cant help with the unlocking but using the mac to back up (and use the
phone ) is a very simple and easy thing to do, you use an application in
the applications folder called Isync. all you need to do is pair the
phone with the mac and at the end of the pairing it will ask you if
you want to use the phone with Isync tick yes and then run isync
the first time you run it it will Merge all the contacts with your
address book. and your calendar and tasks if you wan to keep them
separate just create a new address book (with in address) you then
have a back up of the phone
this works with almost all (bluetooth)
phones but can get a bit flakey if you get the very newest phones as
soon as they come out.
once you have done this you can even send / receive TXT messages on
your Mac
as you no doubt are finding out Macs very easy to use and have applications
that will do exactly what you want them to do,
(PS - i assume that you are using OSX 10.3.x or 10.4.x)
