Hello all
A friend of mine came over with bluetooth gps mouse he used to use with
his Windows for Pocket PC - he bought a garmin navi (cool thing!), so
the mouse became obsolete.
Unfortunately, we haven't figured out what brand the mouse is but this
wouldn't stop us to hook up the mouse to a spare P900, eh? At least, we
tryed.
We've downloaded and installed some demos of available navigation
software to the P900. Thats where it starts burning time. If I remember
correctly, wayfinder was one
The one software says the gps mouse is connected but the no data is
transfered. The other software connects, disconnects, conects,
disconects continously.
I haven't testet with TomTom or Route 66 yet because no tryals are/
where available (and I am certainly not buying a software for 300.-
whitout testing it).
Maybe I can get hold of TomTom or Route 66 from a friend for testing
and may keep you posted with my experiences...
What about your impressions? Did you face problem with certain
bluetooth gps mice?
Regards
Oliver

Wayfinder is rubbish - all the maps are stored on a central server and
you download as necessary over GPRS!
I used R66 on a p910i and it was oce - now using TomTom on a SPV
M5000. Like TomTom, but found the map better in R66...

Well, couple of days have past. I did some more testing and also looked
at some software like TomTom and R66. Both are suitable.
The thing I have now is that obviously this no-brand bluetooth mouse I
have does not work (or Switzerland isn't covered by GPS Satelites any
longer).
All applications I tested on P900 and on Windows Xp are able to connect
to the mouse but do not receive any data.
Now, we come to round three:
- Determining what nme settings the bluetooth mouse needs.
- Trying with another bluetooth mouse.
Btw. Round two was funny too:
I had no 128MB mermory stick for my P900. Hard thing the got hold of
one! Most of the stores are selling bigger sticks (above 512MB) or
Memory Sticks Pro Duo only. Both are not working with the P900 which
has a limit of 128Mb for Memory Stick Duo (not PRO).
In the end, I found a 128 Mb Stick in a Photo Store - and payed a
furtune!
See, discovering new technologies are keeping me bussy. :-) Lets see if
it turns into an "success story" in one or two weeks.

There is a picture of the gps mouse I am using. It seems, that it is
very in use.

Finally! I've found the problem. Obviously, the cable from the antenna
to the board was not very well solded. In fact, it was very poor made
what makes me certainly never buying again this no name device.
Unfortunately, I've tryed to fix it what made it worse...

My second attempt was better: The GPS mouse works again. Lets say, the
antenna works again. It seems to have a short curciut somewhere else
with the result, that it works only if I press the case a bit (yes, it
was the same before my repair attempt).
Currently, I wouldn't recomend to buy this xonio bluetooth device again
- its a good device in terms of signal strength and speed - but the
manufacturing quallity is below average.
On the other hand, testing Route 66 and TomTom Mobile on my P900 led to
good results for both software. Its a bit tricky to get an "old" 126MB
memory duo stick...

Hi
Are you asking about the brand?
No, it didn't say anything but I guess, I've figured out, that it is a
"XAIOX Wonde-XL Bluetooth GPS-Receiver ".
