hi
I've just purchased a SE T610 mobile phone, I have quite a few midi
files stored on my laptop and would like to use them on my mobile. I
don't have I/R on my laptop, nor do I have bluetooth. So what should I
do - do i get a data cable, an I/R thingy like the MA 260 or some sort
of bluetooth thing.
Which is best, what do I need and how much will it cost.
Any help will be much appreciated!!
Thanks
Mike

If I were you I would buy either a USB IR device (that's what I use) or a
bluetooth dongle
A good deal on bluetooth dongles seems to be
http://www.savastore.com/Default.asp
Obviously an IR device will work with more phones, so it's down to what you
prefer
If I didn't already own an IR adaptor, I would probably go for the bluetooth
Hope that helps

I use a Bluetooth dongle and can then just drag and drop whole folders onto
the phone.

Re: best way of getting ringtones from pc to T610
I trim my MIDI files down to about 30 seconds before I transfer them onto my
phone.. no sense in copying a 4 minute song when your phone isn't going to
ring that long, takes up much less space too. I'm using bluetooth, works
great. Just a PITA to set up.

Re: best way of getting ringtones from pc to T610
hi Keith and any groupmember,
that's what I want to do also.
I've a lot of MP3's and my favorites I want to convert to MIDI.
I know how to convert to WAV, but then ?
do you know a MP3-to-MIDI or WAV-to-MIDI converter or an application that
would do the job directly to my t610
or maybe better a site where you can download Latin-music in MIDI
thx in advance

Re: best way of getting ringtones from pc to T610
How do you trim the Midi files ? I would love to just have sections of music
from a file and not the whole file.

I think it is very difficult to perform the conversion to MIDI, it's a
little similar to trying to create vector graphics from a bitmap. The MIDI
file is almost like a sheet of music, with a line of notes for each
instrument or voice. It would require very advanced sount analyzing software
to filter out each instrument from a wav or mp3 file and transform them to
notes.

You want me to do everything for you
psm player v 3.80 http://www.lasyk.addr.com/Software/01_07/psmp380e.zip
is the one I use, works pretty well.
I was also alble to change the instruments quite easily... oo many MIDIs use
pan pipes for my liking!
great for speeding up and slowing down too - my speeded up benny hill theme
works great!!

Re: best way of getting ringtones from pc to T610
Thanks for that!. Yes, I've tried this program when I had a Samsung T100,
for creating mmf files. When I manipulate a midi file and then save it as a
midi file, in this program, it doesn't sound right. Something happens during
the saving process.
Your thoughts please !!!

Re: best way of getting ringtones from pc to T610
Sorry, another quick question ! can the T610 play mmf ringtones? If it does,
how on earth do you transfer them to the phone?
Thanks

I have a low budget answer for you (providing you have a Palm PDA
(although a Pocket PC may work as well)). I had the same problem. Work
issues T610's to employees, so I do not want to spend a lot of money on
accessories for a phone that is not mine:
I download the midi's from the web,
Tweak them as needed,
Run ZBoxZ program (the Winbox applet, which is free) from my PC,
Synch my Palm to my PC and
Use the ZBoxZ beam file applet from the palm to IR the file to my phone.
Low, tech and a hassle, I know, but saves me from buying the dongle
for my PC, or the cable for the phone (neither which I would use if I
leave the company)
ZBoxZ is not an easy program to use, but it works well.
http://palmboxer.sourceforge.net/
Happy beaming!
BTW, it works for wallpaper and screensavers as well. I do not know
about any other things. The phone is still very new to me. --

hey there.. I'm a new t610 owner.. I have quite a few already trimmed midi files
ready to get uploaded to my phone. I have IR port on my laptop - so I'm good to
go in that respect too. Only problem is I'm just lost to what software to run on
my PC to upload stuff. I have used the sony image editor to upload pics ok - but
I want to upload mid files, themes and the rest of it etc.
I tried the MMS software with the phone to upload a midi file but it just stored
it as a MMS template.. I just want to be able to "drag and drop" file types from
the PC to the phone?
If this possible? Any tips - or places to get software from?
I had a look at myt610.com but couldn't find anything.
Thanks
Alessandro
Apologies if this has been asked before - I have done a quick google search, but
didn't find anything specifc.

Re: best way of getting ringtones from pc to T610
when you have a bluetoothdongle and the bluetooth softwaredrivers installed
and then install the T610 CD, it's just drag and drop from images and midi
files
just watch out for too big files and of course only filetypes :
multimedia : jpg, gif, midi, wbmp and from the Sony Ericsson Image Editor
bmp-files
games : jar, jad, mpn
I've not been tried others yet
anyone knows other filetypes working ?
if the filetype will not work on the t610 it will be rejected and transport
will abort
