Just got home and settled down to play with my new SE T610...
WTF??? this thing is not only plastered with Vodafone logos but the software
is full of Vodafone Live crap too... a service which I am quite sure I will
never use. What they have done to this excellent phone is unforgivable.
I might just return it and take my business to Orange or T-Mobile instead.
But before I do that is there a solution other than paying £20 to get it
flashed, which as I understand invalidates the warranty?
TIA

AFAIK, flashing is the only way to go. The vodafone branding is sacrilige!
FYI, Orange have customised their version too, albeit not as badly as Voda.
I bought mine on O2 and it was standard GSM. My Orange sim works a treat!!!!

Yes, you can perform what is known as a 13 sec trick. Basically, it
means that you do the master reset, wait for 13 seconds and then pull
the battery out. That should erase all the pre-installed stuff in your
phone. But, I would advise you to go to www.esato.com and check ther for
details. There have been many discussions about the subject there.
Cheers,

Hi there,
this works only with stuff like ringtones, pictures etc. It does not get rid
of the VF branding.

Re: Vodafone Live crap on T610
Hi Harry,
my wife had the same problem here in Germany. I just called Vodafones
Hotline.
There they told me to contact SE hotline, because VF can not do anything
about it.
I was lucky then to get very understanding SE employee on the phone. He
said,
that there is not an official way to replace the VF T610 with a SE T610, but
I should
send my phone to the german SE Service Center to have it replaced
inofficially..
I did that and meanwhile he sent an email to the Service Center and
explained the deal.
Five days later I got a different, original phone back. Now my wife is very
happy with it.
Now it is what she expected.
Maybe you can try this in the UK, too. The only other way having it flashed
with the
original SE firmware.
Good luck
Robert
