    Help!

I have just bought a T610 on Orange and cannot work out how to send a text.

    This is what I do.

    1. Press the joystick in
    2. Select messaging
    3. Select Text

Then according to the manual I should get an option to "write new" I don't.

The only options I get are

    Inbox
    options
    SMS memory

    Where is write new!

I expect I'm being stupid but please help.

    You should also have:-

    Write new
    Inbox
    SIM archive
    Unsent items
    Templates
    Sent Items
    Options
    SMS Memory

Not quite sure why these other items are missing, sorry.

Check to see if you've got an SMS center set - probably somewhere under
options. If not, it doesn't know where to send texts to, so may not show
    the menus.

If this is the case, repost and I'm sure someone will give you a number
    to put in.

    <PURE GUESS>
Only thing I can think of is that maybe you haven't set up a Service centre
    number:

    Messaging>Text>Options>Service Centres

If there is nothing in there, enter the service centre for Orange (don't
    know it - sorry).

Hopefully that will make the other menu options appear.
    </PURE GUESS>

Having said that, on my (Voda) T610, not having a service centre doesn't
cause the "Write New" menu to disappear, it just prompts for a Service
Centre number before you can compose.

Maybe faulty firmware? Take it back to the shop.

Yes, try switching the phone off and on again and see if the Write New menu
comes up, if not, ring Orange and get them to send you the SIM Update again
and when you receive it, read and delete it and switch the phone off and on
    again and it should work.

    I like the HTML thing!!

More than likely the OP needs the required SIM update from Orange IMO.

And a quick way to get to write a new message is to press left on the
joystick. (When it's the first shortcut in the shortcut menu, it should be
this as default on the T610.

You have not yet registered the phone and received and delted the SIM
updates. Until you do the menu options will not appear.

    What "HTML thing"

Can you view HTML on this phone? If so, how?

Actually I had registered the phone. In fact it was an upgrade done at an
Orange shop. Anyway since I got the sim update everything is fine.
