    Hi guys,
Do these extendable antennas on Ebay really work? I have a V551, with no
real signal problems, but was interested in upgrading the "look" of my
phone. Will there be a significant change in reception if i went with a
shorter stubby antenna, or if I went with a chrome extendable antenna? Any
    feedback is much appreciated.

I tried those when I used to have a v60. Bottom line: it all depends on
where you are. The short extendable one did actually work in fringe
areas. The stubby one worked OK in strong areas.

    Maybe, maybe not.
But more important, when a manufacturer gets a phone approved, it assumes
the OEM antenna and it passes the SAR (Specific Absorbtion Rate) values by
law. In other words, the radiated power from the phone has to be at or
below a certain level so meet the health standards so that your head and
    brain isn't fried.

I'd be more concerned with the RF radiating into my head than the look of my
    phone.

I see, but I am using a wireless bluetooth headset as well most of the time,
so the phone will not necessarily be near my head. What are your further
    thoughts on that?

Where will your phone be then? In your pocket? On your hip?

    Most likely on my hip.
