Does anyone have experience porting numbers from AT&T to Nextel? I have
2 numbers to port and want to avoid obvious hassles.

    Thanks,

    Mike

In late Dec., I arranged for my wife's AT&T WS number to be ported over to
Nextel as part of her purchasing of an i730 and starting Nextel service.
The prting over was accomplished in a couple of days.

I ported over from AT&T on Nov 24th. All from the same family account
over to Nextel to three i730's:

The first number ported over on Dec 5th...could call out but could not
receive calls. AT&T munged the port over and it took Nextel and AT&T
two weeks to figure out what AT&T did.

The second number ported over on Dec 30th...same problem as above,
took AT&T THREE weeks to figure what they did wrong.

The final number ported over on Jan 5th...same problem AGAIN..this
time it took AT&T two weeks to straighten it out.

Now mind you that all three numbers are from the SAME AT&T account.

Then to add insult to injury, at the end of January I get an letter
from AT&T stating that since I didn't maintain three phones on my
family account they will charge me an additional $50 a month "usage"
    fee.

I called them, and said in no uncertain terms, that if they didn't
drop the additional charge, I would notify the state Attorney General
as well as the FCC, (this was after they originally refused to drop
the charge). After "conference" with their supervisor, they decided
to "allow" this one time waiver of the charges.

I for one will never, ever..EVER go back to AT&T. If they ended up
being the only cell phone company on the planet, I'll buy two paper
    cups and string instead.

    Of course, YMMV. ;-)
