I work with a wholesale distributor of new and used nextel equipment.
A lot of times we get SIM cards in the phones we receive.
We have just been putting them on the side and have now accumulated
    over 1000 SIMs.
I have seen companies on the interenet advertise that they are selling
used Nextel SIM cards that have been cleared by Nextel, but when I
called Nextel about how to do this, they were clueless.

Any advice on how I could clear the accounts on these SIMs? they are
obviously not being used as they are just sitting around here.

    Your thoughts?
    Rachel

What I understood about "clear sim's" was that they were sim's in good
condition, not stolen, or lost or deactivated for negative
    reasons...Guessing tho

You can have lost or stolen sims reactivated under corporate accounts, I've
seen it done more than once.

    Re: Clearing Nextel SIM cards

To clear the SIMs, assuming that you are actually clearing a Falcon 64K SIM,
hit MENU, Settings, Advanced, Reset Defaults, Reset All, and enter the
6-Digit Security Code (Default all Zeros). I have tested this procedure
    with a Nextel i730.

By the way, what kind of SIM Cards are they from? I would like to know. Is
it for the i90c? i95cl? Tell me.

IMO I recommend that you e-mail me if you can so that I can talk about this
in private so this way I can better clear this up with you.

    Clearing SIM cards

There is a way you can clear out SIM cards (as well as the phone). You have to have the phone powered on and do a Master Reset. That clears out all of the old information so the SIM can be reactivated again.

The problem with selling SIM cards separately is... if the SIM has been used before on a phone that was reported lost or stolen, it won't be eligible for reactivation unless it has been cleared in Nextel's database. That could take up to weeks.

Also, if the SIM was never completely removed, it could cause problems for whoever wants to reactive that SIM. It will still show up as an active SIM, which cannot be reactivated.

    Re: Clearing Nextel SIM cards

Now the phone would need to be OTA'd to activate it again

I think he means Over The Air'd, but I've never heard it put that way and
    have not seen OTA before.

Clearing the SIM will erase the contacts from the SIM, but will not make it
active. You will need to contact Nextel to activate the unit.
