1 phone, 2 lines, 2 NPA's?

Nextel says this is possible, but I'm trying to confirm it before I
place an order and find out it doesn't work as explained to me.

My daughter has an i730 with one line on it right now. I want to add a
second line to her phone, but the second line would be from a different
NPA (Area Code).

The second line with the different NPA/NNX would be from the area where
she's going to college. This way, her friends at school wouldn't be
dialing a long distance call to call her cell phone. Likewise, she
could seven-digit dial the campus numbers she'll be calling. And she
would still have her 'primary' number in our home NPA for weekends,
vacations, etc.

Nextel says this is possible, but that each line has to have its own
rate plan assigned to it.

The phone would end up something like this:

Line 1: 312-XXX-XXXX (Chicago - home)
Line 2: 217-XXX-XXXX (Champaign - school)

Seems to me that this is a better choice than carrying a second phone,
and better than just 'call-forwarding' to a different number.

Anybody know about any problems with this arrangement?

Won't only one line work at a time? Just get a big plan with enough mins.
Most folks calling her from college will be using cellphones anyway so they
won't have to pay LD.

Nope, both lines work at the same time. You just have to watch which
line is active when you're making an outbound call, but you can receive
calls from either line at any time.

I use this feature... only with the same area code on both lines... works
great!! The only issue is that it is a pain to switch between line 1 and
line 2 when making an outgoing call (On the i60, You have to Hit Menu, Hit
down to go to Settings, Hit select, Hit down to go to Phone Setup, Hit
select, Then hit Left or right to choose what line you want to call from)...
although this may be easier on a i730... I have a Business number on line
one and a personal number on line two (Which I get a discount from)... Saves
me a phone!

P.S. When someone calls, the phone will indicate whether they are calling
from line 1 or 2 no mater which "Line" you currently have set as your
outgoing line...
