I've read every post here that I can find relating to the i870 or
ringtones. I've read dozens of web pages where people show you how to
create your own ringtones. I've tried every suggestion I've seen. But I
still can't figure out how to make my own ringtone for my new i870.

I've figured out how to get MP3s onto my phone's memory card...

I've figured out how to edit MP3s and make them into little song clips
    like ringtones.....

I've figured out how to save these "clips" in super low quality format....

I've made clips in both MP3 and WAV formats.....

I've made the clips very small in total data size, lower than the tones
    I've downloaded.....

I've created ringtones in every possible setting as far as bitrate,
mono, stereo, everything. I've tried it all.

I've figured out how to copy these filed from my memory card right to my
phone. I don't need webjal or myjal to do that. They just transfer over,
it's part of the phone's options.

    AND YET NOTHING IS WORKING!

Nextel tells me that with this phone I can create my own ringtones. But
I'll be damned if I can figure out how.

    Can anyone help?

Did you read the manual for the phone?

No, the ones you pay for and download are in WAV format.

I'm looking for the same solution. The only tones I've bought were in the
    MID format though ..

    Same here!
Tried emailing my phone with a attached .wav file.
I got the file and saved it to the phone only to find out I
could not use it as a ringtone.
I've attached the same flipnerv.wav file for anyone to try.
Also the version of WebJAL (R010103) that I have only handles
    mid files types.
