Don't see anything there that Nextel doesn't already offer, and I'm sure
they offer it with no letency issues.

Re: NEXTEL : Can you hear me now?
Issue will be cost...Nextel is high priced with poor national coverage
compared to Verizon/ATT/etc..
Hopefully this move will force Nextel to get cost competitive on service
and handset prices.

Re: NEXTEL : Can you hear me now?
I still believe that that Verizon or another big player will purchase Nextel
and overtime abandon the iDen system and migrate all the customers to
another systems. Who ever enters the direct connect market will have one
hell of a time to compete and draw customers away from the huge Nextel
based. After all, Nextel, regardless of the quality of service, has been
doing this for about 10 years now. It would be a wise move to purchase
these customers rather then complete to win them.

Re: NEXTEL : Can you hear me now?
Its not about DRAWING NEXTEL's customers. It's about the future of new
customers, steering THE NEW CUSTOMERS to Verizon.
That, my firend, is where the money is, FUTURE CUSTOMERS
Not Nextel's installed base

Re: NEXTEL : Can you hear me now?
Rumor has it and this is from someone I know who works for Verizon their
plan will be $59.99 per month for only 400 cell and unlimited instant chat
NO night & weekend mins.
Not really going to force the price down or really an appealing plan. I'll
take my Free Incoming 400 plan plus UNLIMITED Night & Weekends & UNLIMITED
Direct Connect and UNLIMITED Nextel Online for $59.99per month.

I believe you'll discover you're wrong. Metcalfe's Law states that
the value of a network rises as the *square* of the number of
interconnected nodes. Verzion ain't a-gonna climb over that wall
easily.

I find it ... odd ... that people get so worked up about wanting to
see a company fail. I mean I certainly have my allegences to
certain companies... I like Ford over Chevy. Prefer McD's to
Burger King. I like Moutain Dew more than Mello Yellow.
I think HP's are better than Compaq --- D'oh!, okay bad example
there...
Anyway, my point is that while I like some items over other, I
don't want those others to FAIL. Heck if all the Burger Kings
closed up shop the lines at my McDonalds would only get
bigger.
Here Nextel *created* a new service, built it up from scratch,
developed it and promoted it. Now others are pickup up on
the idea and trying to do it themselves...fine. Some compitition
might be good for the market.
But some of your are acting like sharks smelling blood... longing
for, thirsting for the failure of Nextel. It's like your life just
won't be complete until you see Nextel in ruins. I just don't
understand it.

Re: NEXTEL : Can you hear me now?
Its funny with this racist remark. U must not have a clue how many jobs
they(Japan Auto Companys) bring over. Whats the definition of being an
American? Ur ancestors where are they from? Unless their indian.
Don't proclaim ownership of a land that was already discovered. This
should be titled *what stupid things people say*

Well, that's not actually what I was refering too... I'm not saying
that we need to be loyal to any particular company or buy their
products just because they are an American company.
I was talking about people who seem to wish ill on a company
for whatever reason...
