Details on the case would help.
Paperwork from Nextel is kinda pointless, the Signal Plan is very specific
and does not really need authentication.
What happened, and what are they (not) doing about it?

Re: Signal Insurance?
I am a Dealer in Texas and because of continuing issues with SIGNAL I have
started to switch all my customer base to Nexel Svc. Plan at $2.50.
Seems Signal wants to collect fees but not honor claims without a hassle.

Re: Signal Insurance?
Our Nextel rep has done similar.Signal is not honoring thier plans they
sell,to at least 4 of our customers so far.
Too bad.
Example-( a weak one perhaps)
Student comes into store, says she lost her i95c.The SIM she insured it for
with Signal through her activation was assigned to an i60.She was bought a
i95c for Xmas by her boyfriend. She trasferred her SIM to the i95c.Sold her
i60 to somebody.Goes to claim her Insurance on a lost phone and they pretty
much tell her " sorry, its based on a i60 unit, since you do not have it,as
you said you sold it,no deal".
I would suggest try to update Signal to the model of your phones if you
upgrade.
I have heard of a few good experiences with Signal Insurance, but not enough
to encourage others to go that route.
Classic case of BUYER BEWARE and being a curious consumer.
my two cent only.......

Re: Signal Insurance?
As I may get flammed around here, but I have a right to voice my opinion
too.
I work for Nextel in Customer Care, and the only thing we "reps" really hate
is Signal Insurance. Signal "seems" to send out dead units, units reported
lost/stolen, and that's even if they will honor your claim.

Re: Signal Insurance?
What paperwork do you have? I have used signal insurance at least 4 times.
The only time I had a problem, is when I wanted to have a lost i95cl
replaced but the phone was listed as an i85. It was an upgrade that I done
unofficially so they wanted proof of ownership from nextel. I found the
phone eventually so the claim was canceled eventually.
I have since lost other phones and have actually had the same scenario work
in the opposite manner where I lost a lower costing model with the sim from
a higher end phone and they sent me the phone on record.

Re: Signal Insurance?
I can only recommend that you keep ALL paperwork on your new unit, call
Nextel @ 1-800-639-6111 and let the rep know you are upgrading your phone.
They'll ask you for the new SIM ID (15 digits that start with 000) and the
SN (only starts with 919 or 021) Never keep the same SIM card that was in
your old unit. It may have your phone book on it, but this is the probelem
it can cause. If you really need to transfer the phonebook over, go visit a
service center to do it.
If Signal honors your claim for a damages unit, make sure to RETURN the
pieces! If you don't, you'll see some extra charges 3 months down the line.
