    Hi,
which pre paid sim card is best for L.A.. I have a nokia tri band
and everyone says the global roaming calls are really expensive.
So I want to buy a local card for about 1 month and about $20 value,
just for emergency's and hotel bookings.

    Thanks Roo

cingular or T-Mobile have prepaid. AT&T has the "go phone" service,
but it's not a traditional prepaid offering and is usually not sold
with the SIM alone and is sold with a phone in a package though I
believe you can get the SIM alone if you go to an AT&T corporate
    store.

or even better dont use your cell phone here and buy a phone card to call
    home.

While Virgin Mobile is available in the USA as well
as the UK, here in the USA they operate over the
Sprint 1900 MHz CDMA network. Your unlocked triband
GSM mobile will not work, a Virgin Mobile branded
    phone would be required.
