Latest firmware for the 6310i is 5.51 - if you have a Nokia Service Centre
near you they should be able to do it for a reasonable price. It *is*
possible to do it yourself but the kit to do it *properly* isn't cheap and
it would be more cost effective to replace the phone.

No, latest version is 5.51.

Assuming you mean to 5.51, if it's under warranty, take it to an official
NSC. If you want to do it yourself, you could use a cheap "China" flasher
dongle for about £30, but you stand a very good chance of knackering the
phone. If you want to do the job right you'll need either Twister. Griffin
or Prodigy each of which cost circa £200. Alternatively, ourselves or one
of the regulars would be able to do it for you.

The most up-to-date firmware version is 5.51.
Nokia Service Centres can upgrade the firmware.

What the difference between 5.50 and 5.51 (I have the first :-)
(sigh, wonder how long the 6310i will be in stock, and if Nokia will
ever stick with a new standard-socket so I can buy a new car-kit :-)

I'm not sure of the difference, I have 2 6310i's one with 5.50 and one
with 5.51 and I can't detect any differences between the two. I'd say it's
minor so if it's not broke don't fix it, as they say..!
As for the car kit, I doubt it, which is why I got a 2nd 6310i as a spare,
and I'll probably get another one if I see one at a good price as well..!

I doubt it's still under warranty with firmware that old. As I said, if
there's a NSC close that's the best (and safest..!) bet.

Isn't the 'pop-port' supposed to be the new standard socket?
I see there is a new car kit in the offing that has bluetooth and
pop-port connector. It's compatible with all current models AFAICT
including 6310i though there arte different phone holders.
see http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,54886,00.htm
3rd party adapters are also available to convert cark-91 to bluetooth
