    Hi guys,

I've had the new 4.09.1 firmware (Dated 26-2-2004) for a day or so
now, so thought i'd give you my first impressions of it.

    * WAP Browser seems much faster, going from page to page seems to take
    less time

    * WAP browser seems much more stable, I use it quite extensively and
since I've had the upgrade, it hasn't crashed once.

    * The phone as a whole seems a bit faster navigating through the menu
    system

    * The phone now vibrates when a text message arrives on a Silent
    profile!!!! At last!

    * When entering an SMS or MMS, it now defaults to entering numbers in
    the To field.

    * RealOne Player has been updated to a newer version.

    * the whole Email client is much much better. It sends and receives
emails much quicker, plus it seems more efficient. It takes less time
to detect there's no emails to download.

    * When opening the Application Manager, before there was a delay of
about 5-10 seconds before it showed you the applications installed on
the memory card. Now, that delay is more like 1-2 seconds.

The main word you would use to describe this update is SPEED. It
seems to have made everything much faster which is great.

Thats about all I can think of for now. If anyone has any quesitons
let me know! I'm gonna carry on playing for a bit.

I'd it today on my 6600; I'd to re-install one program (FSCaller); no
    further problems found so far!

This sounds very interesting as I've had my 6600 for a couple of months now
and the one negative comment I have about it is Slloooww !
I'm not too familiar with the concept of upgrading the firmware, and I guess
maybe some other readers of this newsgroup likewise. Would anyone care to
give us a step-by-step on how to do this ?
I guess you start off by backing-up your phone's memory using 'PC Suite for
Nokia 6600' or similar and then have to somehow get hold of the upgraded
    firmware ?
    TIA
    Kevin.

You've to go to a Nokia Service Point in your country, you CAN'T do it
    yourself!

Indeed: make a FULL backup of your 6600 ...

Re: Initial impressions of 6600 Firmware 4.09.1

Anyone any idea whether it has improved the Bluetooth AUDIO channel?
There has been a problem when using a bluetooth headsets with the Nokia
6600, in as much as the phone drains the bluetooth units power, thus (quite)
decreased talktime. The audio (bluetooth) channel remains open, and the
handset does NOT go into "sniff" mode.
Nokia ARE aware of this fault, and the last I heard it was being dealt with
    R&D.
Has this latest software cured this??
