the camera cannot magically receive enough light under low light
conditions... there simply is not enough around. same goes with ANY camera.
there is lots of noise, and guess work and thats why you get white spots.

    6600 Night Camera

    G'day,

Just bought a Nokia 6600 and noticed pictures taken with the night mode
camera are absolutely rubbish (i.e. white spots on the viewfinder and actual
pictures). The camera is fine in sunlight and pictures turn out good enough.
Is it normal for the white spots in night mode to appear?

    Thanks,
    Ian

    Re: 6600 Night Camera

Most important thing with night mode is to keep the phone as still as
possible for a few seconds. The way the software works is to measure what's
there and guess the rest from the info available, if that info changes then
it has to recalculate, if you take the pic while it's calculating then you'd
probably end up with white spots in the picture or something <g>.

This is little different from the way a JPEG pic works or, indeed, a full
blast, mega-expensive digital camera in night mode, with which, at night,
    I've turned dead-cert beauty to a dog-turd's turd.

Good to see you, btw, Daniel, I'll be sure to let you know how my whole
    battery / warranty thing goes.
