Fair enough, but this "load of crap" that you snipped was correct, it was
your patronising "answer" that was a "load of crap". Searching on Google or
looking at the forums you suggested only serves to confuse matters due to
the contradictions on there. I'm sorry, but suggesting that people spend
ages trawling through a load of forums or hits on Google only to find that
one poster says one brand works and another says it doesn't is where the
real "load of crap" is. It doesn't help anyone.

    > You can ask & re-ask every day, and every day you will get a different
    > answer, it might not be the answer *you* want, but that's life.

It's nothing to do with what *I* want. I'm happy with my 256MB card, thanks.
I re-asked the question on behalf of the original poster, because the
information out there isn't reliable. I thought if people replied who have
working 512MB cards stating what brand and firmware they have then we might,
for the first time, find one that works for everyone. I know this has been
tried before, but the problem with the existing threads are that, for
example, people say it "doesn't work" when perhaps all they have to do is
rename the card. In such cases the card DOES work, but there are people
prematurely saying it doesn't. I was willing to cross reference this
information on behalf of everyone, but I really can't be bothered now.

That's better advice, but please stop with the patronising insults. There's
absolutely no need when all people are trying to do is take their own time
out to help other people, for free. There was never anything unclear in your
post, nor did I imply there was. I only thing I have ever implied was
unclear, was the information already out there about 512MB MMC
compatibility. What is your problem with me trying to find an achievable
definitive answer to this very common question?

No idea what you are on about here.

    > What is your problem with me trying to find an achievable

Because, as as been shown, it has been done to death elsewhere, and there is
a different answer every day even for those with the same firmware with the
same card - there are different answers, no point in keep re-inventing the
    wheel.

Only solution is to get a MMC from somewhere that will refund or replace
with an alternative, and those 2 place previously mentioned will try and
find you, or others, a card that will work with your phone or refund you.

    Move on.

Adam, don't let these idiots deter you. I'm planning to buy a 6230 in
the next few days, and will be interested to know which 512Mb MMC card
to use with it. I appreciate people like you who try to get some
useful information together for the benefit of others on these groups.
I wonder what objective those who complain about you doing this could
    possibly have.

    Adam,

Please just ignore anyone who says in reply to the question "How can we
learn more about this problem?" that we should stop trying to help
ourselves and settle for whatever we know now, even if that is very little.

In other words, keep up the good work! Lots of people want to be sure
that any 512MB card they buy will work and equally, lots of people don't
want to be limited to two particular UK suppliers.

    Cheers,
    Raphael

Not yet, but that's only because the correct questions haven't beeen asked
    and answered correctly.

    > > unclear, was the information already out there about 512MB MMC

That's pretty easy to understand, the information about compatibility
between 512MB MMC cards and the Nokia 6230 that is currently available on
the internet is unclear. If one person says a combination works and another
says it doesn't, that makes it unclear. This is what was going on in the
forums you pointed to, and elsewhere.

    > Because, as as been shown, it has been done to death elsewhere, and there

    is
    > a different answer every day even for those with the same firmware with

You're wrong. The problem is in the way the questions are asked and the way
they're answered. It's very simple and easy to be more specific. You simply
need to make sure people follow a simple procedure before claiming something
doesn't work. In this case, for example, making sure they've tried the
common solutions (such as renaming the card) BEFORE they claim a combination
    doesn't work.

    > Only solution is to get a MMC from somewhere that will refund or replace
    > with an alternative, and those 2 place previously mentioned will try and
    > find you, or others, a card that will work with your phone or refund you.
    >
    > Move on.

    Give up you mean?

That's not the only solution at all, that's just narrow-mindedness. It is
entirely possible to create a definitive list of which 512MB MMCs will work
with which firmwares, it just takes the CORRECT questions to be asked, and
people to follow some simple steps before they answer.

People don't want to be limited to a couple (or few more) companies that
will offer that particular service. People don't want to have to return
their goods or wait while the company tries to find one that will work. What
people want is to know which card works for their phone, and to go an buy it
    from whichever shop they want.

I'm going to leave it here as we're going round in circles now. I don't want
to spam this newsgroup with a pointless argument. There are replies
elsewhere in this thread supporting me, that's all I need. So long as there
are people out there who could benefit from this information and want it,
I'm not going to be perturbed by people like you trying to put me off trying
    to help them.

    Adam

Absolute tosh that has been discussed many times elsewhere.

Buy a 512MMC from a reputable company & it will work or you will be
refunded, end of. Moby Memory is one I can think of, buy it from there and
it will work, is that clear enough for you?

Anyone posted one bit of info you require yet - no, and I wonder why.

You son have your head up your arse.

LOL, you're so wrong it's fantastic. Yes, one person has posted on here
(look for yourself!), there are previous replies in other threads on this
topic, and 7 people have emailed me personally with details of working and
    not working combinations.

    So far I have:
    ATP works with 3.15, 3.17.
TEC works with 3.15 (reports incorrect size).
    Hitachi works with 3.17.
    Microsim works with 3.15.
    Mobymemory works with 3.14, 3.15, 3.17, 4.28.
Pretec worth with 3.14 and 4.28.

Kodak is not recognised at all on 3.15 and 3.18 (so probably others too).

The list is far from complete of course.

    > You son have your head up your arse.

Whatever - but in under 24 hours I've already got a list of 11 confirmed
working combinations, and 2 confirmed not working combinations. This is
demonstratable proof that you were wrong.

On top of that, I continue to get emails and replies in this thread from
people supporting me and calling you various names. I don't see much support
    for your arrogant attitude, however.

Just answer me one question - Why are you so against me doing this? It
doesn't do you any harm whatsoever if I take some time to compile an
accurate list. It helps lots of people as this is a VERY commonly asked
question about the 6230. It's easy for me to do. I already have good
results... what's your problem with this? Can anyone else answer this?
    What's his problem?
