I have a Nokia 6600 mobile phone and it has started to act very strange.

Firstly it has started to work very slowly. Sometimes when I try to press a
button the phone doesn't respond, then about 20-30 seconds later it will
finally start working again. However, sometimes it won' start working again
and I will have to turn it off and on again.

Secondly just before a text message arrives I get a message saying "Not
enough memory to receive message(s). Delete some data first."
I click ok and then message then arrives. I also get a flashing envelope in
the top right corner of the screen, even though I have read all my messages.
If I turn the phone off and on again, the flashing envelope disappears but
only until another text message arrives.

The thing that confuses me is that I have had a lot more texts saved in my
phone than I currently have, I have deleted some files that I no longer
want.. So, I cannot understand why it is saying that the memory is full.

Has anyone else experienced any of the problems mentioned above?

Any idea what I can do to stop the problems?

Any help or information will be gratefully received.

    Thanks!

Is the message in fact a SIM update? the phone needs to be completely
    empty to recieve them.

I had strange a behaviour of my 6600 too, and spent almost a month to
figure out that my MMC (memory card) was not fit correctly in the slot.
Check the MMC: when you remove the battery of the phone, is the MMC
"poping out" ? If so, you need to place it correctly in the slot (that
is the same way you initially put it) AND move the "sliding locker" of
the SIM card one step back.
The locker that is keeping the SIM card has 3 positions:
    - fully open (you can remove the SIM card while in this position)
    - fully closed ( covering half of the SIM card)
    - and the secret half closed (or half open, as you prefere ). This
position maintains the SIM card AND the Memory card safely in a stable
position, even without the battery to keep the MMC stable.

After I found out that, I had no trouble at all and I am greatly happy
    of my phone.

Hope it's your case too. If it is, I might do picture of the differents
positions and put on my web, cause I bet there will be more queries like
that And pictures are easier to explain that secret locker.

Check the available memory under Tools - Settings - App Manager - Memory
Uninstall some programs if the memory is low - say less than 500Kb
Or move some video/audio clips and pics to the MMC
