If anyone is looking to buy a DKU-2 cable for the 6230, 7610 etc read
on...
I've recently upgraded to a 6230 and I have been looking around to buy
a DKU-2 usb cable.
I found this 100% dku-2 compatible cable
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/3974.htm
which costs £5.95 plus p&p!
I received it this morning and it works 100% with Nokia PC Suite 6.4,
MobiMB and my 6230 (latest firmware 4.44). The cable installs with no
probs (i'm using xp pro sp2) and uses the standard nokia dku-2
drivers. It also works fine for dialup internet.
Just a recommendation before you spend more money on an official nokia
dku-2 cable!!

Gotta be honest, I've been thinking about that too. What sort of money are
we talking about for one of those bad boys?

You are lucky if you managed to upgrade to 6.4 (or even 6.2) from 6.1.
I successfully upgraded from 6.1 to 6 .2 (which came with my cable
also from mobilefun) and then 6.4 (from Nokia's website) on my PC(XP).
On my laptop, however (XP), the 6.1 version refuses to uninstall (and
brings the computer to a grinding halt) and has left me in limbo
without any working PC Suite. I tried the Register Clean program on
the Nokia website to no avail. I've even E-mailed Nokia Support but,
so far, no response. I don't really know if I need the cable, in any
case. I successfully used the infra red facility at the beginning but
thought it wasn't working when it wouldn't downioad more than 1 piece
of music. When I used the cable connection I discovered that the fixed
memory was being almost used up by 1 piece of music. Using the cable
connection I discovered how to download the the memory card which has
30Mb available. I don't know if I could have done that using the infra
red facility. It's academic now, anyway, because the laptop can't be
used.

Yes, cable is much faster than InfraRed. I am unsure about the DKU-5 which
has been out for a long time, but certainly the DKU-2 cable which ships with
Nokia's Video/MP3 capable phones (e.g. Nokia 7600) have this cable for this
very reason.

Try www.7dayshop.com
They are based in the Channel Islands. They sell card readers, and cards,
besides loads of other items. Their prices are VERY keen. Turnaround, about
5 days.
Good luck
PS I am NOT affiliated with 7day shop in any way, shape or form. I am just a
happy customer.

Same happened to me on my laptop running XP and 6.1.
I had to use Win XP's system restore in the end and set it to a point before
6.1 was installed. I then (at the time) installed 6.2.
Am now running 6.4 but why don't Nok allow software to upgrade ? Why do we
have to uninstall before sticking the new version on.
