Is there any difference speed wise if i choose to connect my phone via
IRDA or cable (DKU-5 for example)?
Also what kind of IRDA speed is supported SIR, FIR?
If i wanted to connect via a IrDA USB adaptor - would the speed limit
be according to speed of IRDA on the phone - say SIR = 115 Kbps - then
it would make no diffrence if the adaptor supported USB 2 or only USB
1.1?
Thanks in advance

Nokia 5140 connection to computer
There isn't any speed difference. Both types of connection work on 115
kbit/s speed limit.
1. In case of InfraRed connection you may face fast battery discharge
problem. On other hand, infrared connection is more universal- you don't
need to buy a new cable if you upgrade your phone to Symbian smartphone, for
example (Nokia 6260, Nokia 6600 ) or newer Nokia model ( 7280, 7270, 6170,
6610i, 6220, 6230). Some serial infrared ports maybe cheaper, than original
Nokia DKU-5 cable.
2. In case of cable connection there could be contacts physical fatigue
deformation. On other hand, in most cases you may face battery problems only
with non-original cables.Original DKU-5 cable maybe more expensive than
serial InfraRed ports, but their price is similar to the one for USB
infrared transceivers.
I.e., in each case you should select the most favourable variant, which
meets your needs.
Our program Oxygen Phone Manager II ( http://www.opm-2.com/ ) supports the
both types of connection. You can download the latest free trial of our
