Hello All,
I'm having a problem backing up my contacts to my PC.
I have PC Suite downloaded and an IR link working it's just I can't see the
contacts. I can find the messages and the pics etc but nothing else. I
checked the data was saved to the phone and not the sim card and it was and
I really can't think of what else it could be. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Martin

What phone do you have? If it's one of the ones at the following page, you
could try that instead:

My PC Suite creates a file named PhoneBook.ncc. Do you see
anything similar?
(Reposted since earlier post apparently wasn't distributed.)

Re: Backing up contacts
Hi David,
No, I've done a search on the machine and looked in the PC Suite folders and
found nothing.
What I was expecting was to be able to actually see the contacts in the
Contacts folder on the phone as individual files. Can you do this? When I
use the Contacts Editor I can see the ones I create with that but not the
ones created on the phone. Again I have checked that they are saved to the
phone and all OK.

I'm not sure I even understand your question. We may be using dissimilar
phones. Mine is a 6360 (TDMA). I have never used a "Contacts Editor";
all my phonebook entries were made using the phone. When I run the
Nokia PC Suite "Content Copier" (the only part of it that I use), it creates
several files (phonebook, calendar, etc) with .ncc extensions. I then put
them into one .zip file for backup purposes, in case my phone is destroyed.

Re: Backing up contacts
Yes, it seems we were. The problem I was having is that I hadn't got
anything to back up even though there are over 70 contacts on the phone's
memory. I simply couldn't see them in the phone's contact folder -- it was
empty, blank, void, without content, unpopulated! :-)
I think the problem may be solved however. I have just installed the latest
version of PC Suite (6.5) and voila! There they are -- now all safely backed
up on my PC. It seems it was a (as MS might put it) a 'feature' of the
previous version of the software.
Thanks for your help.
