Hi
Does anyone have any experience with these.
The first one i got and installled did not seem to work, it shows as working
correctly in device manager but thats it, i assume it should show in the
taskbar like on a laptop.
I have used the wireless link in control panel in xp and the 'display in
taskbar when infrared activity is detected' is checked but no signs of life.
I have tried our phones on 2 different laptops and they are immediately
detected and identified correctly.
I have also tried all the permetations of connecting before and after
booting the pc but none of it seems to make any difference, am i missing
something.
I returned it (through the post, it was an ebay purchase) and received
another but its exactly the same.
Any advice appreciated

Re: usb irda dongle problem
What dongle are you using (brand/model)? Did you download and install a
driver from the manufacturer or are you using the one that Windows loaded
automatically? I have one made by SigmaTel, and it took a little tweaking
at first, but it's been working flawlessly for over a year now.

Re: usb irda dongle problem
Hi
It is listed in device manager as 'donshine co usb device' Yes the driver
came with it on a disc.
What did you tweak, is it usb and does it show in the taskbar when its
running?

Re: usb irda dongle problem
I had to change the driver settings in the device properties. For some
reason, when the driver was installed, the settings were not default. After
I changed them all to their default values, the thing started working.
However, I have a different dongle, and you may have to do something else.
Did you try googling Donshine? There are a few discussions of this
problem...
