    Hi

I have a Nokia 8850 that has been troublesome for a year or so. I've not
been using it, but would like to start doing so.

Basically, it turns itself off. The battery is fine, it's been replaced
recently but not cured the problem.

I can put a SIM in , switch it on, no problem. If I try to make a call, the
screen gets strange characters on it and then the phone switches off. I can
switch it back on no problem, but then it'll happen again.

Any ideas what's wrong with it? I'm happy to fit new parts (I think) if this
is a common, easily-diagnosed issue. Failing that, anyone recommend a NW
    place to get it repaired?

Otherwise, it's on Fleabay for spares or repairs

    TIA

    Dan

Interesting reading Rob, thanks for the reply. If I do sent it away, it'll
be to a Nokia in the UK. Let's hope they're not as bad as those guys on the
    forum.
