I have a Nokia 6680 that I'm unable to turn on due to too little
    memory.

I went a little overboard storing web-pages for later off-line reading,
    and
I got a warning that the memory started to become low (couldn't store
any more pages due to low memory), but nothing *too* serious...

I later turned the phone off, but when I later tried to turn it back on
    again,
I couldn't. When I press "On" the "Nokia" logo comes on once, but
rather than going on, the screen blanks (like when you turn the phone
off), before the logo imidiately appears again. This repeats itself
    until
the battery is exausted -- which doesn't take very long, as the phone
is lit-up like a xmas-tree (both keys and screen constantly back-lit).

    Has anybody else experienced this?

Is there something I can do that may jolt it on long enough for me to
delete something? Like taking out/changing the SIM-card... taking
out the extra memory-card... doing a special key-sequence/holding
    in a key...

BTW, is there a way to reset the memory/phone?

Any suggestions are welcome, although I would like to retain as
much as possible of what I've got stored.

Yes there is but first of all you should try to boot up phone in safe mode
    without MMC...

    OK, loose the memory-card...

Uhm... *how* do I boot it up in safe-mode? ...or is that
just to boot it up without the MMC-card?

    1. switch off your phone.
    2. press and hold DIAL + STAR + 3 button
    3. switch on your phone ( never release the dial+star+3 button)
    4. wait until security dialog box appear..
    5. key in your security code

to reformat your phone: press *#7370#

    good luck..

You don't want to lose you data on your MMC, ever thought of using the
adaptor and backing up everything on it to your PC?

Its the last resort in SF zone, try to avoid formatting untill you try all
other before, also keep in mind that with formating you will loose all
personal data stored in phone mem, photos, calendar entries, phonebook,
    messages etc.....

So at least be sure that you have a valid backup and than proceed to
    format...

    Cheers,
    Apoc

    *It's alive!!! It's alive!!! <insert manical laughter> It's alive!!!*

Popping out the card and starting while pressing the pen-key
did the trick! I've been able to remove enough to make it run
    smoothly.

Thank you all for your help.

Unfortunately the internal 10Mb memory gets chewed up VERY quick, it's a
shame they didn't put much more in it.

I found soon after purchasing my Nokia 6680 that I couldn't store any
applications or files on the phone. Everything has to be placed on the
MMC card and you hope the running apps don't chew up too much internal
    memory.

I have to reboot my Nokia 6680 regularly to reclaim the memory as even
    FExplorer won't reclaim enough effectively.

Apart from this it is a great phone, the first Series 60 phone I owned
and I am sure it won't be the last!

Not such a great phone, by my personal opinion 6630 is a slightly better
phone, especially considering price, speed and durability...

The Nokia-N70 is also a good alternative ;-)

According to FExplorer, with some programs loaded:

    Free memory : 30356Kb
    C: : 18/21Mb
    D: : 1817/1831Kb
    E: : 98/242Mb
    Z: : 0/0Kb

    The N70 is what the 6680 should've been! ;-)

    Henk van Loosbroek.
    My firmware:
    Nokia 6600 -> v5.27.0 (28-06-04)
    Nokia 6680 -> v4.04.07 (22-08-05)
    Nokia N70-1 -> v3.0546.2.3 (18-11-05)
