Text-Only Phone for Kids??

Hi. Does anyone know if there's a "text-only" phone available
anywhere? My daughter saw something on TV called a TexMate which we
think was just made up for the story but if such a thing exists we'd be
interested.

Alternatively is there a Sim card or contract plan or phone where you
can bar calls and only let tests through?

Most phones have the ability to block all incoming/outgoing calls or
only allow some calls out/in based on a set of rules. You can get the
details for a specific phone buy looking for 'call restrictions' in
the owners manual.
