Received my new t-mobile phone (N70) & contract SIM today but when I put the
SIM in and turn on the phone it comes up 'SIM card registration failed'.

If I try to ring the number I have been assigned it says that it is not a
valid number, do I need to wait for t-mobile to activate the number in some
way or is there another problem?

When I received my 3660 (yeah, I know it's an older phone) the same thing
happened to me. When I called T-Mobile, they told me it was because they had
set up my account as a "data only" account. They changed it while I was on
the phone and it worked fine within minutes.

It sounds like they have not provisioned your account properly. Call them
    and have it done.

Hopefully that is all it is but have you tried getting through to t-mobile
lately? I spent 30 minutes earlier listening to the bloody music plus I had
to pay for the call since I cannot make it from my t-mobile phone.

I've sent them an e-mail, they replied to one before the next day, hopefully
    this will be the same.
