battery levels on series 60 OS vs 9,x

Hi,
Can some one plz tell me if there is any cheat code or some software
that can help me find the remaining battery level on my E 61 (new
series 60 ) phone...

I recently got it. It installs new "sisx" files and not the older
"sis" files.

I need to know the battery level in % and not the way it currently
displays on the idle screen.

is there some SYmbian Guru who can help me....

Unless things have changed it probably won't help. On my Nokia 6680 I
have a couple of apps that read my battery level in percentages but they
only display in the same steps as the battery indicator does.

The applications I have used on my Nokia 6680 that show the battery
level in percentages only show graduated percentages as per the battery
level indicator.

7 bars is 100%
6 bars is 85%
5 bars is 71%
4 bars is 57%
3 bars is 42%
2 bars is 28%
1 bar is 14%

No other percentages are ever displayed in the applications I have used.

Has your model phone got InfraRed.
If so, and you have access to a IR enabled laptop/handheld/pocketPC/Psion
etc you can use GSM AT commands from a terminal program for a variety of
things.
Using the command AT+CBC from my Psion5 handheld to my 7250i reads 4 bars as
34%. Not 4 bars 57% as mentioned by Simon earlier.
Perhaps this method does indeed give a clearer indication of the battery's
state.

t odo this.

Open Hyperterminal
create a new connection, call it say "irda"
Enable the IR on the phone and point it at the laptop Ir port.
Select File/Properties , select the comport of your ir port.
Untick the 'use region code etc' box
Click the settings tab.
select 'ANSI' in the emulation option.
Click on 'ASCII' set up and tick the 'Force incoming....' box. press 'Ok'
'Ok' etc
then quit hyperterminal.When prompted, click 'save' this connection.
Make sure your phone is still connected to your laptop via ir, then start
hyperterm again.
Click 'cancel' to the new connection dialog. Select 'File/open' and select
your saved 'irda' file.
Click the call icon under the main menubar and the ir connection should be
established.
Just type at+cbc and press return twice. Don't ask, i'm no expert.

It's a very hit and miss process, keep trying, it does work.
When i first tried it 15 minutes ago, it read my battery as 43 on 5 bars,
now it reads 40 but the phone still has 5 bars :-)

For anybody that is interested in this post,
I have had this system work with :-
Hyperterminal using WinXP SP2.
Psion 5 via a program I wrote myself and with the built in Terminal program.
Pocket PC. WM2003 via a 3rd party terminal program.
All via IRDA and a Nokia 7250i
