I finally got my Nokia 3200 working fine with Nokia PC Suite via IRDA
(PL2303 style DKU-5, and a CA-42 both sucked), and now I am wondering
how I should back up messages etc. from my two sims; UK O2 sim just
used for a two week trip, and US Tmobile sim I plan to keep in the
phone and use everyday. Will backup/restore via the Nokia PC Suite just
overwrite the last backup file, or will it make something new for the
new sim?

Re: Backing up phone with two sims
I finally got my Nikia 6170 sort-of connected by IRDA to my laptop. I had
enoumous problems, like you, with their cables, drivers, etc.
I'd like to know how fast that transfer is. How long would it take you to
upload (phone>PC) a 20k pic or a list of 50 contacts? Mine, through PC
suite, takes TWO MINUTES a piece. I find that extremely slow, and you?
Thanks for any help. BR

Much faster, there is overhead going on, program making choices etc.,
but serial and IRDA both showed up as 115k (bits per second, or about
twice as fast as a 56k modem, maybe 10k bytes per second).
Of course sometimes it would freeze and nothing was being transfered
when I was using the CA-42 cable, no similar problems with the IRDA.
