    Hi,

Several moths ago I have asked about Netmonitor for N70 on this group, but
no answers I've recieved ;-( Mybe someone got an answer how to lock on given
channel the Nokia N70? Unfortunatelly N70 does not give this opportunity via
menu (like E60 does...) nor there is no Netmonotor for N70...

    regards,
    Rafal

Depending on where you obtained the phone and if your carrier has
bastardised the firmware to suit themselves dictates what menu options
    you have available.

Few weeks ago I have upgraded N70's soft via internet (by Nokia Software
Updater) to the 5.0616.2.0.3 version. I have expected to see new item on the
menu, but it didn't happen ;-( Do you know what where can I find the proper
(with 3 items on network type menu) software version?

    regards

The issue is not the SW version but your operator branding. They have
disabled the three options and there is no official way to remove branding
    to get the options back.

This is what I call bastardisation! I recently had issues with 3
Australia because they removed these exact features from the phone they
supplied me, what made it worse was when the phone lost 3G coverage and
switched to GSM (Roaming) or visa versa the network drop the call and
you would have to re-establish it. If you were travelling and this
happened once then it would not be a real issue, but get stuck in just
the wrong place and it is impossible to maintain a call.

They denied the phone and network was configured this way until I was
able to prove it to them and they then admitted it was a 'commercial'
decision to have it this way and that it was also a 'commercial'
decision for them to ask me to leave the network.

Unfortunately the only way around this is to purchase a phone outright
that is not locked or branded to any network, but if you cannot afford
    this you have a problem.
