    Are you in the USA?

I'm working with their service department at the moment, too. I have a
Nokia 8801 so went through to a different support channel, but I've
spent several hours last week trying to get them to accept a proof of
purchase. Luckily they finally accepted the documentation and are
sending me a refurbished phone in exchange for my broken one.
Otherwise, I would have had to send it in for repair and who knows how
    long of a wait.

I am in the U.S.A. I would like to know who you are working with ... Read
my LONG AND RAMBLING POST from earlier today .. or better yet, here it is
    .....

On 12/26/2006 I coughed up $700-$800 and purchased the N93 which arrived on
    12/29/06 ... Couldn't wait to get it .. What a GREAT PHONE !!!! What a
GREAT CHRISTMAS PRESENT TO ME !!!

Charged it up - Put in my sim card .. made a call, it dropped the call and
the phone locked up. Had to take the back of the phone off, remove the
battery, replace the battery and cover and turn it back on .. So it went
with each call. Tried syncing the phone to my laptop .. It locked up and
had to do the whole reset thing again .. and again and again ....

That was a Friday. Posted here for help and pretty much the concensus was
.... Call Nokia, nobody else had that problem .. So I did .... but I had to
wait until Tuesday Jan 2nd .. They are closed for the holiday weekend...
Nokia tells me to send it to them to get it fixed. None of the repair
centers work on the N93 except the one in Alabama. It would take 7-10 days
for the repair. Next day it was in the mail.

Nokia received it a few days later and the computer logged it as "repair in
progress" .... and I waited and waited .. Called to ask the status and the
length of time to needed to fix this N93 had changed. It would be more like
10-15 days [not counting shipping time] I waited .. and waited ...

Another week goes by and the website is still showing the same message. "IN
PROGRESS..." I called and talked to everyone ... repair .. customer service
... sales ... .Finally this one guy says he would "escalate" my repair. But
.... it would take - SEVEN DAYS to have it escalated. 7 days pass, I call
back. I guess the guy forgot or he was just blowing me off ...

NOBODY ESCALATED ANYTHING but this person I was talking to said she PROMISED
she would escalate my repair, [whatever that means ..] I think it means,
get me off their backs for a few days or a week. Also, the person who was
going to escalate my repair FOR SURE THIS TIME, said "According to Nokia's
warranty, we are allowed to take THIRTY DAYS to repair your phone .. "

I hang up the phone and get to thinking, "I should have taken the phone to
be repaired by Joe's 24 hour Cellphone Repair." So what if it voids my
warranty .. what good is Nokia's warranty."

I called Nokia back and said "Please get a message to your repair people to
take my phone, put it back in a box and return it to me today." [that was
this past Friday.] I tell her I will get it repaired locally ... She says ..
" I can't get the message to them to return it today." and I ask when could
she get word to them that I want it back and she said "it will take 5-7 days
to contact them and get them to mail the phone back to you." and then adds,
"by then, your phone might have been fixed."

THAT IS NOKIA'S WAY OF BUYING MORE TIME at the customer's expense.

The weekend passes and I when I got to my office the first thing I did was
check the Nokia website, expecting to see SOMETHING now that they FOR SURE
escalated my repair ... Instead I saw NOTHING. Just the same message ..
"your phone was received and is in the process of being repaired."

I called Nokia again. Not repair, customer service. I rant for a while
with this nice guy from Customer service and he says .. "Someone tried to
call you today about your phone .. they left you a message." [ they left
the message on my cellphone, which they have.] It seems that repair
couldn't fix my N93 because they don't have any parts .. Nokia has NO PARTS
for their factory defective phone !! I didn't break it .. it came this way
!!! The nice man tells me "The escalation department decided that since you
have waited so long for this repair, they want to send you a new one ... BUT
WE DON'T HAVE ANY N93's .. they are OUT OF STOCK [just like the parts.] !!"

"When will you be getting parts or phones?" I ask.

"We don't know." he tells me.

I try and be a little flexible and say, "Can I get a different phone ??"

"NO ... you need to get the same phone or a refund." [A refund in full,
pro-rated for the length of time you have owned the phone .... which,
according to Nokia math is just over a month. I bought it on the 26th of
December, received it on the 29th of December and they have had it since the
first week in January.] "Just fax me a copy of your sales invoice ..... "
[The invoice is in the box with the phone in Alabama at the repair center
because they told me I needed to send it and I know how long it takes to
contact the repair department ..... Maybe I can get a copy ..... ]

WHATEVER !! I am beaten now and I say, "I will take the refund .... yes
..... send me a refund. Full refund .. partial refund .. I DON'T CARE AT
THIS POINT .... I will get another phone but NOT A NOKIA ... " He
proceeds to give me his fax number and I ask .... When will I get my refund
    ??"

He tells me, "Refunds take approx. SIX WEEKS !!!"

    SOOOOOO ...... Anyone considering getting a new phone ?? A Nokia ???
