I've just got my new Nokia N95 on T-Mobile Flext 35 Web 'n' Walk
tariff in the UK.
I'm having several issues:
1. Its constantly crashing!
My N95 is crashing a hell of alot. Within the first hour of use it
crashed 6 times. Its usually when changing settings. Although
interesting it allows me to power down the phone with the power
button. I've not had to remove the battery after a crash. I have a
generic Nokia N95 with firmware:
v 10.0.018
15-03-07
RM-159
Nokia N95 (43.02
1. Web 'n' Walk does not work
I'm not able to connect to Web 'n' Walk and I get the error message:
'Packet Data: Pack Data not available. Check network services'.
Its trying to connect using 'T-Mobile Internet'. I've looked at the
setting in Access Points for 'T-Mobile Internet' and they are:
Connection name: T-Mobile Internet
Data bearer: Packet Data
Access Point Name: general.t-mobile.co.uk
User name: t-mobile
Prompt password: ***
Authentication: Normal
Homepage: http:/www.t-mobile-favourites.co.uk
I've tried changing from 3G to GSM etc but still nothing.
2. WLAN Browsing
I am able to connect to my home wireless network but I cannot browse
to normal webpages. I set my homepage to 'www.google.co.uk' it
displays the page but none of the links will load. Furthermore, no
addresses entered into the address bar work even ww.bbc.co.uk. It
finally gives error web 'n' walk gateway no reply.
I don't know if this is relevant but I'm not using DHCP on my router -
everything has a static IP address. I've assigned the N95 its own
static IP.
When I use one of my PCs to display the IP-to-Physical address
translation table using 'arp -a'. There is no entry for the IP
assigned to the N95
I can, however, see the N95 as a Media Device in Network in Vista.
3. WLAN Scanning
Even if I set WLAN scanning to on it shows WLAN scanning off under the
applications shortcuts bar. If I click on it then says refresh and
finds the WLAN and allows me to start browsing but it doesn't work as
above.
4. GPS does not work
I know that it needs a connection to download Maps but shouldn't it
give me a GPS position even without one?
I hope some of you can shed some light on the problems I've been
having.
Many thanks for your help!

Re: Several problems with new Nokia N95
Success! Managed to fix the WLAN browsing. I changed the setting in
Web 'n' Walk for Access Point to 'Always Ask'. So web browsing is
fixed and GPS is working too! Curiously it hasn't crashed once since
this.
I think I need to call T-Mobile in the morning about the Web 'N' Walk.
I don't think its activated on my account or something like that. T-
Mobile site isn't even recognise my temporary number while mine is
porting over from Orange.

I have found the N95 is prone to crashing when it loses a WLAN
connection whilst it is in use. I.e. You can't browse the WWW using a
WLAN whilst moving around, because when you move out of range of the
network, in all likelihood the phone will crash and auto-reset.

My Nokia (not branded by any provider) N95 is incredibly stable for a
"new" product. No crashes at all, and I have used voip, email, web,
wlan, umts, games, media player and radio.
I have the same version as yours, only the last line reads "Nokia N95
(01.01)", I suppose this difference depends on the provider's software
modifications.
So, I suppose that you have a defective unit, or that your provider has
screwed the software badly.
I can't help about your other issues.

Mine is a T-Mobile N95, the same as the OP. Mine has been very stable,
as long as I don't lose a WLAN connection whilst the browser is
downloading a page.

Do you have the Dutch language in your N95? What's your product-code?
There's already an update available Via NSU . . . ! ;-)

Re: Several problems with new Nokia N95
I've been reliably told by someone on the www.3g.co.uk forumt that
It is suffering from the famous T-mobile SIM provisioning / reboot
issue. A number of people have had this, and the phone stops crashing
after displaying something similar to "interactive update succeeded".
The N95 seems to get upset with some T-mobile SIMS until it is fully
provisioned at which point it stops crashing. The effect is about 6 or
so crashes within the first 30 minutes fooling you into thinking the
handset is faulty.
Anyway I got a brand new SIM card and phone before learning about
this. Its initial charge so I'll have to wait and see this time.
