Does anyone know how to pair the N75 (currently AT&T branded) with the
Su-8w keyboard from Nokia? The keyboard came with some
software/drivers, but it does not install on my phone.

    thanks,
    K

I use an SU-8W with my N800 Linux tablet. Pairing it was a chore
because it has no good interface to tell you what it's doing except
    those faint LEDs.

    http://europe.nokia.com/A4144290
Let's go here and look at the PDF manual so we are on the same page of
    the instructions....very important instructions.

On page 9, the trick is step 6. Enter the BT code of your choice on the
phone....THEN WITHIN 30 SECONDS enter the same passcode on the
keyboard's top row followed by the ENTER key. You don't need the Fn
mode key as the keyboard is locked in numbers mode, already. Pressing
Fn screws up this setting, I found out.

Once you get the wireless keyboard application to attempt the pairing,
as soon as you enter the 4th digit, like 0000, the pairing alerts the
keyboard which only waits 30 seconds for the same 4 digits to be
    entered.

There isn't much indication on the unpaired blinking LEDs where you are
in the pairing sequence. So, if in doubt, turn the keyboard off then on
again to restart the sequence and don't press any keys on the keyboard
until you are ready to do the 4 digits on the top row.

The wireless keyboard app on most phones must also be left running the
whole time you want the keyboard. This is a kluged up mess as the
phones don't natively support HID profiles. The app is a patch.

Once the green LED starts blinking slowly, you should be paired for the
duration....every time you bring up the keyboard app, that is.

    It's tricky, but doable.....

OH, AND TURN OFF ALL OTHER BLUETOOTH DEVICES IN THE HOUSE THAT ARE EVEN
NOT KEYBOARDS. The damned phones don't support multiple devices
simultaneously, including keyboards! My Motorola Z6m will not pair with
the N800 Linux tablet for Bluetooth DUN if the headphones are attached.
    It's stupid....(sigh).

Notice on page 10 it says "You can disconnect the keyboard from your
compatible phone, for example, to use another BT device with your
phone....YEAH, THE HEADPHONES! If you have headphones paired and
connected, the phones will NOT PAIR WITH THE KEYBOARD! After pairing,
they won't connect to both simultaneously, either, on most phones.

So, turn off all the other BT devices in the whole house. Stupid
    Sellphones....grrr..

Thanks for the advice and the link, however, I don't think that is my
problem. In fact, I can actualy pair the keyboard with the phone, it
just doesn't work. There is an MMC card that comes with the keyboard
with software that needs to be installed onto the phone. It's an SiS
file, but I guess the default is incompatible, because the phone says
    it will not install.

What I am looking for is the updated software/drives for this phone
    and keyboard.

BTW, I had no problem pairing the keyboard with my 770 running Maemo OS2007.

    thanks!

Oh, sorry. Yes, you have to install the software on that card, same as a
driver into Windows. The phones don't come with it installed to save
memory for those who don't use it.

Do you have PC Suite installed so you can talk to your PC?
    http://www.nokiausa.com/A4735050
The procedure is to use PC Suite to install the driver to your phone, I
believe. Unlike Motorola's software, Nokia gives away PC Suite for free.

There are demos to watch on this webpage to see how to do it.

I do use the PC Suite on my one gaming computer. The others all run
Linux. I had only installed it to sync my contacts, and didn't
realize you could install software through it.

What your post did, was get me to search in a new way (since now su-8w
and N75 on google has this thread as the first result), I found on
Nokia's support page for the keyboard, these files:

    http://europe.nokia.com/A4144291

and grabbed the S60 v 3 software, and have installed it. Pairing was
simplicity itself, by launching the the installed app and then adding
    the keyboard.

Thank you for the help and the pointers!

Great! Glad you got it running.

Typing on it is a bit "different" for me. I can't do my usual 120wpm and
still have to think about the Fn shifting to get numbers and characters.

On the N800 Linux tablet, the two right-angle-symbol keys showed up as
page-up and page-down, which comes in handy. The other sellphone key
doesn't seem to impress the N800 to do anything, good or bad.

I'm using the keyboard and N800 over free wifi from my little breakfast
restaurant as I type this. rdesktop in the N800 is hooked to Remote
Desktop on the main WinXP machine at home, over the net. This message
header will show it came from Xnews on usenetserver from my house, but by
remote control. The keyboard is required to use it because rdesktop must
disable all local virtual keyboards to display the WinXP screen. The only
other way to enter text would be to boot the virtual keyboard of WinXP on
the home desktop and use that for text entry, which really sucks over the
long path. The BT Nokia keyboard resolves the problem and I can get some
    of my typing speed returned.

I'm SURE it beats those stupid texting schemes of the sellphones, which are
just hideous to use, even for just entering a name into the phone book....
    (c;

Best of luck to you with your new toy. If anyone asks what you're doing,
tell them you have Microsoft Office Suite installed into the tiny phone and
are typing up a proposal for a client. Someone will always stop to watch
the tablet in action. Nokia owes me bigtime for all the free advertising
and advise. I must have sold 50 N800 tablets in the past 6 months.
