.....and it has GPS and brilliant video and it synchs well with outlook
and I have hacked mine from o2 to generic and now to install unsigned
symbian stuff.
If however the OP just wants a phone to make and receive calls there are
cheaper and simpler. Regret I am not an expert on these but if the OP
details what he wants his phone to be capable of I am sure someone will
be able to help.
Which? have done tests which should be available at the library.
I usually rely on magazines and the net.
Carphone Warehouse used to be a good source of unbiased advice but after
run ins with Fresh and TalkTalk I wouldn't do any business with that
group now whatever they offered.

And it doesn't break every 5 mins and spend hours in the repair shop?
The gps doesn't work inside a car? etc

And you claim your experience is representative?

My company has two, my friends have had them...
They are just NOT in the league of previous phones for
quality/performance. Even the banana shaped phone was better.
I've gone back to N73.

I have three friends that have them and I have one myself. None of us have
had any problems and all are delighted with them and we all use GPS in cars
with no problems. I wouldn't in any way claim that we are representative
though.

The new E71 has 3 batteries so I think you will have
a great battery life span, as for texting - it has a QWERTY keyboard.
