Depending on what you read and where you read it they all seem to be
interchangeable, only the time to charge alters. Am I right in assuming on
some of the earlier chargers they just offer a lower current (hence take
longer to charge) but no damage should ensue from any mix of use?

Different charging voltages give different charging times. Personally, I
always charge my batteries off the phone in a DCH-9 desktop stand, using
either an ACP-7X or an ACP-12X, whichever is to hand. That way I've always
got at least one spare fully charged battery in my pocket.
BTW I suspect there's a market out there for a protective pouch or
something to carry spare batteries about, does anyone know if they're made
to suit the 6310i battery..? Never seen one but always wondered..!

I have never heard of batteries explodingbut I guess it must happen
one day when your house keys short the contacts.
I did hear of an exploding Nokia (for some other reason) a week or so
ago. In Holland wasn't it?

I've heard of that some months ago, in Sweden, a 3310, IIRC, also with an
aftermarket battery. Huh, we'd better stick to genuine parts !
