I'm wondering what's happening or causing the following problem:

I bought a Nokia 8260 (I'm a student) back in 2000. I began having
"redialing" issues when attempting to make outgoing calls from everyplace in
town. I would dial the number and then "redialing" would show up. A
connection could not be made. Over a few days, the problem would be
intermittent and then become constant. No calls in or out could be made.

It went to Nokia Canada for repair. The phone would work for about a month.
The same thing would happen. Off it goes back to Nokia. Then the
replacement phone returns and works fine for about 4 months. The same thing
happens. It goes back to Noklia. This time, they claim to replace the
phone. The phone lasts about 6 months before the same problem resurfacing.
I had some tests performed and it failed a couple of them, including
hand-off. I dont have the test results with me. I took the 8260 to low
density areas, like Alaska (ketchikan, Juneau) and the "redialing" issues
were not there.

None of the phones have not dropped or anything. I *****ed and complained
to Nokia because my warranty has since lapsed about their phone. They
ultimately agreed to send me a used 6160. The first one they sent me was
bad. I used a friends battery that was already charged. I installed the
battery....the same happened. REDIAL, REDIAL. I then took the phone in to
get tested. It failed one of the tests. I could not use the phone. I
returned the phone to Nokia. They replaced it with another 6160, but the
date was not working...no big deal. This phone lasted for about 3 months.

What's going on??
