When I connect my 6100 to my pc, and select the com port, the screen goes
    completely blank.

If I select a different com port on system settings (i.e. not the com port
the phone if connected to) the screen comes back on?!?!

It also says that my phone is not connected.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks all....

I seem to remember there being a method in which you need to connect these
third-party data cables to the phone. If I remember correctly:

    1. Switch off computer
    2. Plug in data cable to computer
    3. Switch phone off and plug in data cable
    4. Switch on computer
    5. Once in Windows, turn on phone

    Thanks for that Sebby.

I tried that, but after the computer is switched on, and I try to switch my
phone on, it just switches strait off.

    Any other ideas?

Also, try your taskbar to see if you have any com port scanning programs
(Nokia PC Suite, WSCECOMM for pocket PC, etc) as this made my 6610 go funny
    when I connected it...

    Justin.
