Just had my order from onestopphoneshop for a Nokia N-Gage on Orange Pay
monthly cancelled. Rang them up to findout why and got the reply Orange have
delayed the release of the N-Gage on Pay Monthly till next year!!!!!!! What
is going on?
Anyone got any idea's for my next phone as my contract is now up? Currently
have 7650 (great phone not enough memory)
Thanks

Next phone or next provider? most UK providers delay handsets for at least 3
months for no apparent reason, but I didn't expect to be able to order them
then have them cancelled
The N-gage being one of a kind (thank god) I'm not quite sure what to
recommend as a next phone, except wait for 3G. the latest I've heard from UK
Voda (in a shop) is that they expected to release 3G in December, but are
delayed. I'd presume that the other networks are in the same boat, since
they have all been losing customers to three for the past 6 months, since
they have no competitive products whatsoever. upgrading now to any of the
current GSM phones means you'll be stuck with it for a year- which
(hopefully) will be long after the main UK 3G rollout. The N-gage is
slightly different given it's unique gaming sales tag (I won't say
abilities) so if you were of the mind to want one, you probably won't get
much of a choice without getting something completely different (but better)
There are quite a few phones announced over the last week, so even I'm not
quite up to speed, but most seem to focus on EDGE, which no cellphone sales
person has ever even heard of, let alone be able to offer dates of a UK
release, so I'm tempted to avoid, unless the UK providers do a 180 and
decide that 3G can wait - in which case I'll include them along with
religion on account of persecuting the human race and denying them
technology (any stargate SG1 fans will know what I mean). seriously, we have
waited patiently for far too long, it's time we had decent, usable service,
not stopgaps. GPRS was the stopgap, and it's two years old - a stopgap
should last weeks, not years.
There's a lot of choice, so narrow it down for us, what sort of phone were
you looking for?
as for freeing up the 7650 memory, put it into flight mode - no network
services at all, but it still works better :-)

The 6600 is great... proper 65K colour screen (as opposed to 4096 on
76/3650), MMC support, decent quality keypad with usable layout (unlike
3650). Best Series60 Nokia I've used in ages. It's also a nice shape and
fits nicely in the hand.

The n-gage is terrible for several reasons, you're lucky you're not getting
one. As for an alternative, I'm in the same boat, time to upgrade my 7650.
I'm going for the Nokia 6600, it looks to be very similar to the 7650 in
terms of interface but addresses all of the problems i had with my 7650.
It's essentially a 7650 in a new design with 6MB of on board memory, an MMC
memory card slot and a 65K colour screen. Should be in shops any day now...

Actually I find the difference between 65K colors and a nice bright 4096 color
screen not nearly as big as the difference between 256 colors and 4096.. I
wouldn't want it if it meant even just 10 minutes less battery time..

I actually like that layout now. Pretty fast 2-3 finger typing/texting.

Yes.. that'd be the main draw for me. 3650/3660 just looks so WEIRD and it's
BIG.

Re: N Gage on orange
Looked on the Onestopphoneshop website the next day and oh my god the 6600
for £49.99 on orange £25 per month.
Ordered on straight away.
Rang them today should be in my hand by the end of next week.
Now I can load all the games and apps I want together not just one at a
time.
