    Will the 6600 work in the US on the standard gsm freqs? I haven't seen
    it for sale here except on ebay.

    Yes it will work over the 1900MHz GSM freq.

    Yes, I was a couple of weeks ago in chicago and my 6600 worked fine there.
    It's a 3 freq phone.
