PTT 8100

I have heard from some that the 8100 can do Ready-Link.

Type ##4636 on phone and then save number, it will come up and say that it
is not available.

If you type ##3282 on phone and then save phone number, go to user name,
view: There is an option titled "R-Link NAI" it won't let you view or
change it and I have no idea what it is, but it makes me think that the
phone is PTT capable which would be nice.

Any suggestions on how to get it to work, or knowledge on this would be
appreciated.

I hate to burst your bubble but NAI is just your email address which ##3282
will pull up on any Vision phone. The 8100 doesnt have a speaker phone so how
could it do Walkie-Talkie?

Contrary to popular belief, speakerphone is not a requirement for PTT. In
fact, most people tend to use a PTT feature in private mode, much as they
would a regular call.

Dont know if this has any bearing on your post, but if you install the new
MOBILTV option, the ringer located on the back becomes the speaker where the
TV's audio is heard from...This might imply speakerphone capability
depending upon upgraded software....

Not in any way that you can do on the phone itself, from=20
what I've been able to determine. The Ready Link NAI is a=20
little but different from the Vision NAI, and there are=20
other network settings involved also to which I am not yet=20
privy.

That software update, 1.115SP, included several functions=20
that seem to suggest the 8100 can be made compatible with=20
Ready Link. But I can find nothing (other than the very act=20
of putting in those settings) to say it's going to be made=20
active in the foreseeable future.

Just because the menu item is there, does not necessarily mean the phone
is capable of it.

If you set the old Sanyo 4700's (which are 3G voice, but not 3G data
capable) into service mode, there's a menu item that allows you to set
the 3G data speed. Yet AFAIK, no one has suceeded in making a Vision
data connection with that phone. While the firmware may support it, the
hardware does not.
