My contract ends on Jan 2, 2004. I am wondering what happens if I were to
switch providers on December 5, 2003. At first blush, I'd assume I would
get hit with the ETF. But, since SPCS charges for the whole month in
advance and doesn't prorate, even if I cancel 12/5/03, I'd have paid up
until 1/2/04 and have completed my contract. Does anyone definitively know
whether I'd be charged the ETF?

Good question to bring up. Let me ask another.

If my anniversary date is January 11 (contract was signed on this date
in 2003), would my contract end on Jan 11 or Feb 11? The web site shows
Feb 11 as end of contract date.

So if I end my contract before Feb 11 next year, will I have to pay ETF?

Re: Question regarding the contract end date.

If your January 2003 Invoice shows your plan changed on Jan 12, and Sprint
improperly slid it forward a month - then they have violated your contract, and
if you call Executive Services and complain, your ETF will be waived as of that
    day.

    www.sprintpcsinfo.com has the phone number
for executive services. Make sure you tell them you got the documentation. Dont
let them weasel out of it by agreeing to move your expiration date back to
January. If they violated your contract, you are free to consider it null and
    void.

Thank you very much for your completely UNhelpful answer. If you read my
actually read my post, you'll realize you've got the dates completely wrong.
You might also notice that I mentioned nothing about Sprint doing anything
improper, I asked if 11 months into the contract, will I be charged the ETF
considering that I would have paid for the full 12 months.

Oh, and if someone violates one part of a contract, that doesn't mean you
can weasel your way out of the entire contract. All that is required is to
rectify (or pay damages) for that breach. In your example, it's simply to
correct the date. That's simple contracts law. Follow your incorrect
advise would only lead to a breach by you and associates damages. Didn't
anyone ever teach you two wrongs don't make a right?

John, it looks like Phillipe was trying to answer my question.
Nevertheless I think he over responded to it as to accussing
Sprint of sliding my conttract date.

Most likely Sprint considers the contract to end one month after
the contract anniversary date FOR BILLING PURPOSES only, not the
    actual end of the contract.

Now for you, I'm going to venture a guess that in spite of being
paid in full up to your anniversary date, they will most likely
want to do an ETF on you. Best to call CS for that answer.

Ok, I'll take your word for it. I don't see a previous post by you, but it
wouldn't be the first time my news server ate a message.

WRONG. If SprintPCS has incorrectly changed your end date that is valid grounds
for you to CANCEL the contract.

I Know, I just did exactly that.

No it is a known bug in their system. They improperly slide your expiration
date forward, and that IS VALID GROUNDs for you to have your contract
    cancelled.

What's the matter, Stevie? I thought you got a killer retention plan from
    them.

What's the matter? I thought you got a killer retention plan from

    ===============================

Just wanted to have options available to me.
For instance I could buy a SE T616 and pocket $100, sell my Samsung I330 on
    eBay, etc.

My son is still on Verizon, and Verizon phones
do work indoors better than SprintPCS phones, etc

I currently pay $60 for 2 lines, other carriers have nice shared minute plans
    at $50/month, etc

I send email to SprintPCS, it goes to eCare which is now in India, and I get a
nonsense unresponsive answer from someone with a fake Anglo name.

I now frequent an area of town with a major SprintPCS dead spot, which
    SprintPCS (of course) denies exists.

If I changed carriers I'd still come here to counter the apologists Scott, Bob,
    and Tom.

Guaranteed SprintPCS as we know it will not exist a year from now. Its being
folded back into Sprint, so as to make Sprint a more attractive take-over
    candidate.

    ===============================
Moral - If SprintPCS has improperly extended your contract that does invalidate
    it.

You really are a bigot Phillipe. Always the hate against the folks in India
....as outlined by your numerous posts here, and in the EL newsgroups.

LOL. So now you would stick around in a newsgroup you have no affiliation
with? You and your 35+ other IDs are real nutcases Phillipe. And I'd still
like to know where we've been apologizing for SPCS ... without your rhetoric
    included this time.

Guess again Buckoo ... I doubt very much that case, both that SPCS will hold
it's own within the corporation, and in the fact the the feds will not allow
a merger of two such large competitors ...

Lets face it whatever your name is,
Sprint was probably more than happy to let your dud butt go, make
room for a customer who will actually enjoy the service and not whine
    all the time.
If i were them I'd throw a party.
And will be more than glad a year from now to call you on your guarantee
    about them not being around.
    Now go troll verizion.

I would hardly think ANYONE would consider termination as a valid
remedy. Most likely Sprint would simply change the date for you
