Sanyo 8100 Question

Ok I have taken a picture with the sanyo 8100 and now it is stored in the
phone. When I get home can I load it into my computer? If I can is it very
costly and how would I do it.

No need to wait till you get home if you have a Vision pack. Just send
yourself a picture email ("share" option) from your phone to your home
email address. Open the email when you get home, and save the picture
to a picture file. OR, you can upload it from the phone ("upload"
option) to your picture site on SPCS, then email it to yourself.

NO I don't have the vision pack. I have no need for it. I just thought I
could take pictured and when I get home I could put them on my computer.

Just how did you think you could do it without Vision? Just connecting it to
your laptop or PC via a USB cable?

8100 is over $100.

If you do NOT have PCS Vision (+$15/mo option), each picture will cost
about 25 cents to upload to Sprint's web site.

The pix are pretty small (336x276 pixels) and the quality isn't the
best. It's great for Picture Caller ID, but otherwise is mostly a
novelty. Although sometimes it's convenient when you don't have your
digital camera with you.

SnapMedia will let you upload pics from your 8100 to the PC with a USB
cable. Go to www.futuredial.com to order both parts. Both the software and
USB cable are 29.95 each.

Or you could do what the others say and email it. Even if you don't have
Vision, you can send it to an email address for .01 per kb uploaded.

Actually, after a two week trial, no you can't, unless you=20
accept a $5/month Picturemail add-on charge. And even then=20
you still get the upload charges Dave mentioned.

They make decent wallet photos, too. Not great, but=20

Cool. Have you used it as a modem (via Vision)?
Or to transfer pictures directly to your computer? And vice versa?
How about data?

I didn't realize this. I'm paying $30/mo for 300 anytime min. &
unlimited N&W starting at 8pm. Do you think they'll let me have $25/mo
without Picturemail ?

That's true. I keep a bunch of my favorite pix in the picture wallet.

Yes I have, but not to dial out to anything but Vision.

Nope, can't do it without software, which I don't have. In saying that
though, I can email pics to my standard ISP email server ...

Nope. That $30 doesn't include Picturemail. If you were=20
using Picturemail before about June of this year (don't=20
remember the exact date), then you got grandfathered in for=20
free.

Thanks. I signed up in June. And re-up'd (for another year) in November
to save $5 and have N&W start at 8pm.

Wonder if I should have waited for a better deal...assuming there'll be
a big shake-up soon due to Number Portability.

Also wonder if it's too late to try to negotiate for some bonus anytime
minutes...

It's way too early for a conclusion, but as of right now, Chicken Philly=20
is being proven wrong... again. We're not getting inundated. We're=20
very slightly ahead.

If there's going to be any real push, I suspect it'll be after the New=20
Year. And I mean that both in terms of "waves" of people porting, and=20
of plans trying to entice and/or prevent said waves.

That's just my opinion, though, and based on nothing I've seen on the=20
job.

Yeah I dont think it will work the way people assume "floodgates" style.
The effect of WNP will take place over the next year as people's
contracts run out and they become naturally motivated to switch in other
ways (phone dies, gets old, CSR pisses them off, etc.). In the end, the
only likely winner is VZW since they are offering the best overall
service and prices (and I am a Sprint customer, but it is obvious right
now we have the worst prices and for sure we have among the worst
customer service if not the absolute worst, and we have the highest
number and $$ amount of bogus fees. Even on a retention plan I am paying
more than I would pay for the same service from virtually any other
carrier).

For example, I am planning on switching from Sprint sometime in the next
6 months but will do this at a time that is convenient for me (even
though my contract has been up for 3 months). 5 years of bad customer
service, **eternally inflating bogus fees**, and a crappy selection of
phones is enough to push anyone away.
