Sprint for >6 years, outstanding plan, good service, new phones for the
asking, generally high satisfaction. But... Sprint offers no Bluetooth
phones, won't commit to even a year for introduction of the T608, and we
*must* have a BT phone. Therefore:

I signed with T-Mobile via Amazon, got a free Sony T610 plus a free Jabra BT
headset on a one-year contract, and will pay about 10% more for service than
we paid Sprint. The T610, etc., was initiated with a new phone number. It
works well - and on a drive yesterday it appears that T-Mobile coverage in
this area is on par with that of Sprint (excellent).

Our first contract with Sprint expires in a week, and we wish to port the
SPCS number to the new phone and terminate the subscription.

Perhaps I'm paranoid, but I see a lot of horror stories about trouble when
separating. Specifically, what should we look out for? This is not an
isolated problem, as we have several lines that will go through this one by
    one as contracts expire.

You should expect SprintPCS to stall, take a week, and charge you for an
extra full month of service. If you Cancel with Sprint as your contract
    ends, you can not port.

Huhhh? What are you asking? Whether you expect to see a problem porting your
    SPCS telephone number to T-Mobile?

What is not an isolated problem?

All you need to do is have T-Mobile initiate the porting process ...

Oh? And what proof of that do you have Phillipe? ... Geez, this hate of
yours against SPCS is really getting old ...

You might wanna let all your friends that have Sprint PCS and pcs2pcs
minutes, that all the calls they made to you or calls you made to them will
turn into normal anytime minute calls once you port out. because once their
bill generates after you port, you number will no longer be a Sprint PCS #
and the billing system will look at it that way.

I saw him bashing Sprint PCS over in the AT&T Wireless and the Verizon
groups yesterday. His motivation and determination is clear. I can only
imagine how productive he could be if you focused that energy into something
    constructive.

Just make sure you initiate the ports AFTER the contract expires on the
Sprint lines. Doing it before will result in an early termination and Sprint
can hit you up with early termination fees (ETFs). This goes for any
    provider.
