I had to reformat the drive on my laptop, and now realize I misplaced
the CD that came in the data kit. Can anyone advise me of a place I
can get only the modem driver install, I don't need the dialer or any
of the Blue Kite stuff, just want to re-install phone as a modem in
W2000? I tried all obvious places, anyone on this NG have data kit
    for this phone?

    Thank you,

Well, I found the CD that came with the phone, and the software will
not work with W2000. Brother. Even tried the latest DIALER 3.0,
and guess what? It's an upgrade only, you need previous dialer
to work with it. Catch-22 situation.

Anyone know of any software that will work with W2000 and
    this phone? Thanks.

If you call us in Vision Tech Support, we'll at least make=20
an effort to get you up and running. But there's no=20
guarantee. Just ask for Tier 2 and let them know what=20
    you're doing.

A Vision phone we'd refuse to support. A Wireless Web one=20
like that, we'll at least try, although Wireless Web on W2K=20
    isn't officially supported.

Re: Motorola P8167 Data Kit - I lost CD - Need Driver

    Hi Rob;

Well, I used the phone with this laptop for 2 years or more using
W2000, but here is how it happened. The Sony laptop originally came
with WIndows ME installed, and that was when I originally installed
Dialer 1.1 and later upgraded to I think Dialer 2. Then, I eliminated
the Dialer altogether, and set up the phone as a modem using the
Windows MODEM wizard, as now the SPRINT PCS PHONE was listed in the
available modems. Then I upgraded to W2000 and the upgrade carried
over to W2000, and I used it for at least 2 years like that.

Then, I had to reformat the hard drive and reinstall W2000, and now
the software will no longer work, as W2000 does not use TCP/IP, but it
did work for a few years.

So, I was wondering if someone could help, I called Tech Support and
held for 1.5 hours, got Tier 1, they couldn't help, tried for over 30
minutes to get me to Tier 2, never could get me there.

Anyway, should I go to a Sprint store and will they be able to help
me, or will I have to blow off Wireless Web altogether?

Thanks for your help, but how do I call for Vision Tech Support and
get Tier 2? Is there a certain number or do I just call customer
support and ask for Tier 2 Vision Tech Support?

    Thanks for responding.

    Jim

Have you tried to download the dialer from our software download page? =20
You can find it by logging into our web site, but there's also a direct=20
    URL to it:

    http://205.137.195.84/servlet/Selectpage

If you can get a different Internet Access, that should let you download=20
the dialer. There *is* a version for Win2K there. I know you want only=20
the driver, but that's not an option that we provide, so far as I can=20
    tell.

Re: Motorola P8167 Data Kit - I lost CD - Need Driver

    Hi Rob;

Well, I finally got it working. I found the Initialization string for
the P8167 phone hidden in the manual, and then I set it up
as a standard 19200 bps modem, and it worked just fine.
That's probably what I did last time and didn't remember.

    Anyway, thanks for you assistance.

    Jim
