If you have three phones, your bill is incorrect because "Federal Wireless
Number Pooling And Portability" would have been $3.30.

Well Steve, Tom's got a point. If you have three phones on the account, your
FWNP&P tax should be $3.30. As is listed from my bill based on a 3 phones -
2000 minute F&CA, Vision & PCS2PCS for $90.00. It's the old $85 plan with
one free add a phone.
Taxes
Federal Tax
$3.60
North Carolina State Wireless 911 Surcharge $2.40
North Carolina States Sales Tax - Service & Usage $6.90
Surcharges
Federal E911
$1.20
Federal Wireless Number Pooling and Portability $3.30
Federal Universal Service Fund
$2.52
As to your taxes, it looks like you be bendin' over to pick up the
proverbial bar of soap with regards to those local & state taxes.

Re: Cell Phones taxes are nuts
Here are mine:
Taxes
Federal Tax1.04
Queens City Sales Tax - Services & Usage - 1.36
(services and usage is what I'm paying SPCS $30 a month for)
New York State Sales Tax - Services & Usage - 1.32 (same
as above)
New York State Wireless 911 Surcharge - 1.20
Queens County Wireless 911 Surcharge - 0.30
Surcharges & Fees
Queens County Special Fee - 0.18 (what the heck is
"Special Fee"?)
Queens County Surcharge - 0.04
Queens County Wireless License Tax - 0.61
New York State Gross Receipts Tax - 0.12
New York State Excise Tax - 0.77
Federal Universal Service Fund - 0.69 (Universal Service
Fund?)
Federal E911 - 0.40 (Shouldn't this be included with the
other two 911 surcharges? In the two years I have had SPCS service I've used
911 twice)
Federal Wireless Number Pooling And Portability - 1.10
$9.13
Has anyone in NYC ever looked at the taxes on their landline phone? MTA Tax
Surcharge - what the heck is that? A surcharge is just another name for tax
in my opinion so they're taxing you on a tax. And what happens if you're
like me and never use th3e MTA anyway, you still have to pay for it. I
thought the MTA was supposed to be a self-funded entity.

Minnesota State Deaf Tax Surcharge 0.26
Surcharges & Fees
Federal Universal Service Fund 1.72

The formatting of your mail doesn't look like a cut-n-paste to me. Go back
to the website and double check the item details.

Re: Cell Phones taxes are nuts
Steve, maybe you've already mentioned this, but what plan are you on now,
and how many phones? I do remember that you said you had 3 phones, but you
are only charged $2.20 for FWNP&P.
I'm curious as those are some outrageous local taxes ... and appear to be
based on the cost of your plan. If I had to deal with the cost of those
local taxes, I'd be organizing a riot and a recall for all those politicians
who agreed to it ...

Re: Cell Phones taxes are nuts
LOL, Folks,
The MTA tax has NOTHING to do with the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
MTA in stands for "Metropolitan Trading Area". As in the New York Market,
Philadelphia/S. Jersey Market, etc.
